Road Trip to Central Coast

Hi All, I hope you are all being safe in this crazy covid period. We are so fortunate in Sydney, Australia that we are not in strict lock down. So we decided to go on a road trip up north.

My fiends and I decided to go on a road trip to the Central Coast, to 'chase waterfalls' and watch the sunset at Long Jetty Wharf.

My day started early as I was the driver for the day, I had to pick up my friends - they are located at Parramatta, 30km west of Sydney CBD.

Strickland State Forest

Our first destination was Strickland State Forest - 55km north of of Sydney CBD. This location has several hiking trails. We choose Strikland Falls Loop Trail. This is a 1.3km hike track which loops around in a circuit. The walk starts in the Banksia Picnic Area where we parked the car. The hike had really great scenery along the way to the waterfall. The waterfall was really disappointing as it was not the wet season, the waterfall was really trickling down. One of my friend had a really funny analogy,

You would see more water flowing down if I had a bucket of water and I poured it from my apartment balcony.

Somersby Falls

After we made the full loop as the hiking trail lead us back to the Banksia picnic area were we started. We rested for a while, had some snacks and replenished on some fluids. We were ready to hop into the car and drive to Somersby Falls.

My friend was in charge of mapping out the day, we soon realised that Somersby Falls was before Strickland State Forest as we were traveling north of Parramatta. The distance between the 2 sites was only 15km - but regardless his planning privileges were revoked :P

We arrived at Somersby Falls picnic area It was only 500 meter walk down a few steps and we were at the waterfall, this was much better waterfall then the previous location. I took some amazing pictures on my Canon 80D.

We walked another 500 meters away from the main waterfall and to discover a mini waterfall, winning. We stayed at this location for a while to enjoy mother natures fine masterpiece.

Long Jetty

By the time we finished up taking photos at Somersby Falls, we were all starting to get really 'hangry'. So we decided to have lunch at our final destination, Long Jetty - 33km north from our current location. As we got into the small town, I made an executive decision to get fish and chips. We got our lunch and sat at Long Jetty Foreshore Reserve to eat

After lunch we went for a walk around the park, as we had a few hours to kill before sunset. I took a few pictures along our walk.

Long Jetty Wharf is the longest jetty in New South Wales and it is 351 meters long - located on Tuggerah Lake. I have seen a lot of amazing sunset photos at this Jetty on Instagram, so I am finally here to experience it myself. I had an amazing day in the central Coast although it was tiering but I had a blast

Thanks for stopping by :)
