Trans-European route E10 (Part 2) / Transevropská trasa E10 (Část 2)

After spending the night in a damp cave, I got up early in the morning around 5 o'clock and set off on the planned route. The next day was supposed to be probably the most interesting in terms of monuments. The first place I arrived that morning was a pond called Harasov, which used to be a famous tourist destination. Today, it lags behind its glory, as evidenced by the abandoned former hotel. Nowadays, it is possible to spend the night here only under a tent in the camp.

Another destination on this route that everyone should visit is Kokořín Castle, to the castle leads pleasant path from Harasov around a small river where you can see crayfish and other rare animals living here. You have to climb the castle from the valley along the steep path through the forest, which is the shortest, or go around on the tarmac road. At the castle, I forgot to take pictures with my mobile phone, because I got stuck looking for compositions for the film camera. I had the surroundings of the castle only to myself because it was 8 o'clock in the morning and the castle does not open in the summer months until 9.

I continued along the Pšovka river, which occasionally turned into swamps, which are listed as world-famous due to their species diversity. Not far from the Hlučov homestead, there is a turnoff to the most famous rock formation in the Kokořín area, called Pokličky. There is a very challenging road to Pokličky, where you have to overcome an excess of 40 meters at a distance of about 200 meters. The view of the rock formation is definitely worth the effort.

From Pokličky it was necessary to descend again into the valley and continue around Pšovka to the pond called Stříbrňák, where is also a well with drinking water. I replenished the water supply and continued to a village called Ráj (Paradise). From Ráj, the first major climb to the top called Uhelný vrch awaited me, where I had a little snack. Here I met the first people to use the trail. The closer I got to Houska Castle, the more people I came across. This is because this castle is easily accessible by car. The castle is not exactly photogenic, so I missed the photo again. Annoyed by the number of people, I quickly set out on my journey. The trail leads along an asphalt road, which was quite used that day. When I came to a village called Kruh (Circle). Kruh is a historic village full of timbered cottages.

Another such village on the way is the next one called Žďár. Then there was only a trip through the pine forest to the place where I planned to spend the night. But I had absolutely no idea where. In the end, I found an absolutely ideal place with a naturally created fireplace, a flat place to sleep and at the same time a rock overhang, which was supposed to protect me from the rain. Because a strong storm was coming at me. In the end, the storm narrowly missed me and I could have a dinner in the form of a sausage.

Nakonec mě bouřka těsně minula a já si mohl v klidu opéct večeři v podobě buřta.

I walked 25.2 km all day, which was just right, because I knew that a similar dose of kilometers awaited me the next day. In addition, the weather was a few degrees warmer than on Friday.
