My 2026 Plan for Dead, Sleeping or Dormant Busy Bees

in BusyBees2 months ago

Hey everyone. I have been saying that I will make a post about this topic for a while now and now is the time to finally do it.

This post is subject to change and influence. The members of Busy Bees are welcome to respond to this post and give me your opinions and suggestions. I do however, have a few strong points to put forward.

The main gist of what I want to change in 2026 for the Busy Bees progress report is that I want to remove DEAD DATA. Accounts that are dormant and not posting need to come off the list and I am sorry, they need to stay off the list.

This is the Busy Bees... BUSY... The whole idea was to create a support group for people who are on Hive often and constantly and are growing together.

Today will be Week 3, once I am done with the normal post for the Busy Bees. In 4 weeks time, by Week 7 I want to action the following changes:

  • I will add new members based on suggestions from members only between now and week 7. They need to be people who post daily/weekly and have been doing it for the last 4 weeks or more.
  • After this, for 2026, I am not adding new members to THIS list. If new members want to join, then we can create a new list, possibly with someone else doing the capturing.
  • Once Week 7 starts, the rule will be that if your account is idle for more than 4 weeks, you come off the list and you stay off the list in 2026. If you want to be on a list after that, see above about a secondary list.
  • The only omission to this is if you declare that you need to hold your place on the list but will be unable to do so and you declare a "holiday mode". Eg: You will be travelling for work for 3 weeks and might miss out on posting for more than 4 weeks because of this. Pop on and send a message to me on the Busy Bees Progress posts. I will put the account on "holiday" mode for the specified time. You have 4 weeks to do this. People who do not are going to get booted off the list for 2026.

I hope that this is understandable.

Let's look at the first bit of supporting information:

This list is the member list for 2025, Week 1. There were 90 members.
The members listed in red are no longer on our list today.

I am busy with a nice 2025 recap stats post but there is 1/3 of the data that is irrelevant now. All those weeks that I recorded these (and other) account's growth and counted their posts, all wasted time.

That is not something that I want to repeat.

So let me reiterate:

The Original List

Let's fill it up to 100 with some new or old accounts that want to join the Busy Bees now in the next 4 weeks.

My support will be based around this list for 2026. Drop off the list, stay off the list.

Holiday mode is available when LIFE happens. But ghosting the Busy Bees for 4 weeks or more is not acceptable.

The Secondary list

Right now, there is zero call for a secondary list. Should it be necessary, I will make an allowance for it and find an administrator who wants the job.

All sounds fair enough. I haven't had much luck with inboarding last year. @parkrunmayor was doing well but seems to have lost motivation. I don't think he will be back.

Yeah, that account had a couple blips of activity but never blogged its way to 100HP. Mostly been off Hive.

Totally agree the list should focus on 'busybees'. EG, users who are active! I've been mentioning the BusyBee community in the weekly #Slothlysavers post, will give a further shoutout this week to see if any users want to sign up! Love the way it encourages growth and continues to support members, between your weekly catch-up and Curations from the busybee community!

I look forward to a new, updated list of real Hive 'BUSY' Bees! Keep up the great work, and thanks for your time and effort running the community!

This all makes sense, but I wonder if we should allow people who genuinely return to activity after being dormant one chance in the year. That way, we're not shutting them out completely and (hopefully) will be encouraging them.

Sometimes real life hits people like a sledgehammer, forcing them to totally focus on dealing with a crisis for an extended period. When they come back, they might be in a fragile state needing all the encouragement they can get, and shutting them out at that point in time might drive them away from Hive altogether.

An alternative might be to create a new revived bees list and find a couple of mentors for the returnee. That gives them someone who can interact with them regularly, and someone to talk to who can keep an eye on how they are doing, both in Hive and the real world.

Indeed. This is exactly why there is a "holiday mode". When a person sees that there is a crisis, it takes seconds to log in and leave me a message and let me know there is a situation. And done.

In the odd case that something happens to someone and I remove them and they return after a time and there was a valid reason they slipped off the list... well I may be convinced if there is an good explanation. But really. I don't think it is unreasonable for me to put some boundaries in place and require members to behave with a bit of respect for my time. I cannot even begin to calculate how much time I have wasted on people we have all forgotten...

Nominations for accounts: @myjob and @flemingfarm both post daily about daily life, while @generikat is a bit sporadic but still posts every week or two even when life gets crazy for her.

Thanks JT!😊

Thank you

I agree with the changes you want to implement.

I will soon make a post promoting the group and will suggest 3 users to include on the list.

Good work, friend.💪🐝

👍 Awesome.

cryptoreforma, you mined 0.9 🟧 HBIT and the user you replied to (zakludick) received 0.1 HBIT on your behalf as a tip. When you mine HBIT, you're also playing the Wusang: Isle of Blaq game. 🏴‍☠️

Sorry, but you didn't find a bonus treasure token today. Try again tomorrow...they're out there! Your random number was 0.7057471822427551, also viewable in the Discord server, #hbit-wusang-log channel. | tools | wallet | discord | community | daily <><

Check for bonus treasure tokens by entering your username at a block explorer A, explorer B, or take a look at your wallet.
There is a treasure chest of bitcoin sats hidden in Wusang: Isle of Blaq. Happy treasure hunting! 😃 Read about Hivebits (HBIT) or read the story of Wusang: Isle of Blaq.

This sounds good to me, Zak. As you said, Busy Bees are supposed to be busy on the blockchain to remain on the list, or lists as the case may be. I'd like to suggest @rajpootg and @ivyann, with both of whom I interact often. Let's go! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Great work, and it's exactly what you said in the analysis. I fully support you!

I'd like to nominate @lizandra as a new member, as she posts regularly and does a fantastic job.

Hugs to all!

Hey zak how are you doing I'm going to start posting again starting today. I've starting to play more game now that I a computer and graphics card that can handle it. So I'm going to try my hand at gaming posts.

I can see the busy bees have had few new members add from when I was last on.
hello to everyone I know and to everyone I've yet to meet.

Hey Barry! Welcome back!

Yes. Good to see dormant Bees coming back in!

A shame about dormant bees, but yes a busy community needs active members!

I would love for them all to be back and active but that is Hive, we can't exactly force people to stay on if they do not want to be on.

Hehe very true, and some of the powers that be on Hive don't exactly welcome people to stay either!

And that is a totally additional discussion I think. While it is easier to maintain a monopoly, in the end of the day, to make Hive anything other than a crypto-shit-coin rife for pump and drop, it NEEDS a community and ecosystem.

With something established with a large amount of active bloggers and content consumers, there is an opportunity to leverage all sorts of co-operations within the market... but hey, what do I know?

Right now I just want 100 strong Busy Bees!

I'm totally with you. Dead bees have to be removed from the list. Like you said, the group is called busy bees.
!ALIVE !BBH !HEARTBEAT

Thank you.

💯 I agree with this change. But I have a question. If one of these busy bees disappears for about a month without any news, is that member put on "vacation mode" or direct removed from the busy bee list?

For example, like what happened to me last November 2025. I experienced a flash flood. The water came in the middle of the night, the lights went out, and the network connection was completely lost. In my village, the power was completely out for about three weeks. During the blackout, my phone had no network (only certain SIM cards had network access). To charge my phone, I also had to trek far through very deep mud.

Please enlighten me🙏

So there is no knowing if a member is ghosting us or not, but if you popped up with that explanation that your had a flood then I would have added you back in no problem.

My focus is more on eliminating the need to waste time with dead data. It is not about punishing people who have real crisis on their hands.

This is fair, I agree with you

Unfortunate but necessary. Makes my curation easier s well. It's annoying to keep landing on people's profiles that I want to promote and finding no recent posts. Thanks babe.

Indeed. That's another advantage! You and others wasting time looking at members that arre not active.

🎉🎉🥳 Congratulations 🥳🎊🎊
