CCC's Street Art Contest #130 - Natural animal

in StreetArtlast year

Hello everyone!

Here again posting about a street mural that I have seen in this community StreetArt and I would like to join one more time this week's contest, CCC's Street Art Contest #130 hosted by @digi-me, thanks for the initiative!

So I come back to this community with more street art than the kind that suddenly hits us when we turn a corner. And in some places the murals stand out from the rest of the urban landscape. This time and finally, the last work I have seen on a wall in the city of Santander, in the north of Spain, where I was traveling in December. I must say that I have been impressed by the number of wonderful and striking murals that I have been able to discover there, and here I leave you the last of the all that I have shared in this community:

And where I have seen the last mural in that city?

Well, this one has been that I saw worse, more quickly I mean, and I realized later that not even completely, because it covers much more than what appears in the photo, apparently the entire wall of the road turning the curve upwards, in the middle of the from the city, but unfortunately it was not going in that direction but in the opposite and unfortunately without much more time to return there again. So it will be for the next visit, maybe I can do a second part...

In any case, it is a different work perhaps from the rest of the ones we have seen, obviously it does not stand out for its bright colors but it does for its good design. A clear and defined design, classic we could say, in black and white adapting to this environment this time horizontally, not a wall of a building but a wall that separates a sloping road in the city thus going up Río de la Pila street.

What is it about?

It is about nature, in the harsh reality, because it may be one of the most realistic murals we can see. In the other part that follows the path there are some more (like an antelope skeleton too) and I discovered that it means that the work can be seen by part as individual groups part of a whole. At least this part can be understood that way, this group of… rats and/or squirrels. What do you think are rats or squirrels?

I think there are both animals if we look at the details, because in addition to being realistic it is also a detailed mural, in its very simplicity of the animal concept.

Who has created it?

A Belgian artist named ROA in 2010, right there on the Puente del Río de la Pila, an emblematic street in Santander. The entire work together with the other part above it that follows is called “C. E. Altamira” (Altamira is a very known archeological cave where many ancient paintings where found), but little else can be known…

Bonus

I also share with you some extra information, how he created the work in that day, in a cultural project in the city named "Desvelarte" that brought together different artists from different places, and here is the source of a local Spanish newspaper.

We'll be back here again, with more murals, no more in Santander for the moment, but found in other places...

The most specific information comes from this site: El Diario Montañés, an article in Spanish newspaper of that region.

Thanks for reading! Have a natural and real day.

Always impressive works with Roa. In Montreal, there is also a huge wall done by this artist. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community. Have a great day.
