During the lockdown, street artists have even more difficulty finding sources of funding (no exterior murals or interior decorations for shops... and official festivals cancelled...). Difficult time for everybody and helping each other becomes important.
But good initiatives have emerged. After the Montreal art gallery ArtGang and its concept Royaltees, sale of tshirt done by artists, I bought two but too small I had to give them away, lockdown didn't help keep me in shape 😀. More about it on Street Art #277.
In June, Livart, Art Center on Saint Denis Street, allowed its resident artists and others to paint some murals in the alley behind the building with the agreement of the neighbourhood. Great initiative and great results.

Kevin Ledo
Born in Montreal in 1978, Kevin Ledo finished his studies of Illustration and Design at Dawson College (Montreal) in 1999. With his murals, he aspires to create visually bold and iconic compositions, focusing on portraits with stylized abstract forms without background. In this case for background, he just used the the old mural which had been badly damaged by some more or less good taggs.
Labrona
Based also in Montreal, Labrona is a street artist, skateboarder, record collector. His work is very recognizable with his characters typically Labrona-esques, faces with multiple colors underlined with marked black lines.
He did two paste-ups during this event :
As the agreement between the two artists was perfect, they attacked the wall opposite with another mural :
And other artists have joined the party including Zoltan whose works were already visible in the street but a little damaged.
Zoltan
Uranus was done by Zoltan some years ago
Born in Montreal in 1981, Zoltan Veevaete aka Zoltan had a Bachelor of art degree from Concordia University (Montréal). He was the recipient of the Cecil Buller-John JA in 2009. He paints somes mural but his works is more on painting with many solo shows all around the world.

Johnny Crap
Jonathan Bergeron, aka Johnny Crap is a painter and illustrator who lives in Montreal. He mainly illustrates imaginary scenes including animals and skulls. He shows in this lettering all his talent as a writer :
On top an old mural done by Zoltan, completely destroyed in its lower part and replaced by this stunning lettering done by Johnny Crap.
It deserves a zoom 😀
