I've been hoping they'd come to Montreal for a long time, and I'm delighted that the Mural Festival has been able to attract OSGEMEOS, the Brazilian duo, twin brothers. They've been working on their mural on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal for a few days now, even though the festival doesn't start until June 8. I'd like to take this opportunity to show you the evolution of this mural, as well as introduce you to the other artists present for this edition. Really interesting choice of artists this year.
Depuis le temps que j'espérais leur venue à Montréal, je suis bien content que le Mural Festival a pu attirer OSGEMEOS, le duo brésilien formé de 2 frères jumeaux. Cela fait quelques jours qui travaillent déjà à leur murale sur le boulevard Saint-Laurent à Montréal malgré que le festival ne commence que le 8 juin prochain. J'en profite pour vous montrer l'évolution de ce mur ainsi que vous présentez les autres artistes présents pour cette édition. Vraiment intéressant comme choix d'artistes cette année.

I'm a big fan of their work... it's even thanks to them that I got really interested in Street Art, OSGEMEOS are two twin brothers, Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo, born in 1974 in the Cambuci district of São Paulo (Brazil). They're active for over 30 years, from the walls of São Paulo to participation at Art Basel or in art galleries all around the world.
Je suis un grand fan de leur travail... c'est même grâce à eux que je me suis vraiment intéressé au Street Art, OSGEMEOS sont deux frères jumeaux, Gustavo et Otavio Pandolfo, nés en 1974 dans le quartier de Cambuci à São Paulo (Brésil). Ils sont actifs depuis plus de 30 ans, des murs de São Paulo à des participations à l'Art Basel ou dans les galeries d'art partout dans le monde.
In 1994, they met Barry Mcgee, an artist from San Francisco, and Margaret Kilgallen who were then in residence in São Paulo for nine months. As the two brothers don't speak English, their mother takes care of the translation 😀. But thanks to these exchanges, they learned graffiti techniques, how to make stickers... basically the job of street artists. In 1997, they received international recognition. Since then, their success has been unstoppable, from graffiti to painting to sculpture.
En 1994, ils rencontrent Barry Mcgee, artiste de San Francisco, et Margaret Kilgallen qui sont alors en résidence à São Paulo pendant neuf mois. Comme les deux frêres ne parlent pas anglais, c'est leur mère qui se charge de la traduction 😀 . Mais grâce à ces échanges, ils apprennent les techniques de graf, à faire des autocollants... en gros le métier de Street artistes. En 1997, c'est la reconnaissance internationale. Et depuis le succès ne les a pas quitté, du graffiti à la peinture en passant par la sculpture.
And why the color Yellow ? For them, yellow is a spiritual color because when they : " were drawing at their mother's house, the sun would come through the windows and the studio would become yellow " - OSGEMEOS, Juxtapoz, Summer 2018 (I still have this magazine)..
Et pourquoi la couleur jaune ? Pour eux, le jaune est une couleur spirituelle car lorsqu'ils : " dessinaient chez leur mère, le soleil entrait par les fenêtres et l'atelier devenait jaune " - OSGEMEOS, Juxtapoz, été 2018 (j'ai encore ce magazine).
This series of photos was taken a day later, on Friday May 26. I hope to be able to return tomorrow evening (May 31) to see the progress of the work and to share the rest with you... As I said in the introduction, the artistic program of the Mural Festival is really interesting this year with BirdO aka Jerry Rugg who took part in the 2021 edition (CCC's Street Art Contest #81), Bordalo II, a Portuguese artist whose works made from garbage are simply superb (in Porto StreetArt #198), or Shalak Attack but also local artists like Projet Tyxna. Big week from June 8.

Comme je le disais en introduction la programmation artistique est vraiment intéressante cette année avec BirdO aka Jerry Rugg qui a participé à l'édition de 2021 (CCC's Street Art Contest #81), Bordalo II, artiste portugais dont les œuvres faites à partir de déchets sont simplement superbes (à Porto StreetArt #198), ou Shalak Attack mais aussi des artistes locaux comme le Projet Tyxna. Grosse semaine à partir du 8 juin.
Practical to have two artists in order to create a mural of this size. I can't wait to see the final result, and I'm so happy to finally see one of their murals right next door.
Pratique d'être deux artistes pour réaliser une murale de cette taille. Il me tarde de voir le résultat final, trop content d'enfin voir une de leur murale juste à côté de chez moi...

Street art in action 🎥 Very cool to catch two of your favorite artists painting. Can't wait to see the results. Seems like using the lift kind of goes against the punk nature of street art lol but I don't know how you could do a wall that large without one.
