Mexican Murals - Kawaii in Chapultepec [CCC's Street Art Contest #42]

in StreetArt3 years ago (edited)

Right in the middle of the neighborhood San Miguel Chapultepec I call home, here in Mexico City, a new mural appeared. It is not a typically Mexican mural by any means, but I still like it, and want to use it as my entry for this week's CCC Street-art Contest. I hope it adds some diversity to an already diverse collection of murals.

The image's exact location is the corner of Rafael Rebollar and José Ceballos, on the wall of a tiny eatery. Instead of yet another stereotypical taco shop, this one looks like an Asian Fusion cuisine. At least the most famous Chinese and Japanese dishes seem to be sold here, judging from the name of the establishment Sushi Wok. But a look at their menu shows that they also offer Pad Thai among their selection.

The entire front wall of the place is painted in cutsie pink, with its main feature being even cuter: a manga girl, complete with cat-ears and tail, short skirt and knee socks, and green-yellow hair. Her rice bowl in one hand and delivery box in the other indicate that the food is either for take-away / delivery, or can be eaten in place, at one of the two tiny tables. Yeah, the place is not very big, but so kawai, nee---!

Though there is no tag of the artist, I think this one shouldn't be too hard to find out. I can just ask the staff when we go to try the taste of their food... when they are open, that is.
