(ESP/ENG) Murales representativos / Representative murals

in StreetArtlast year

Hello to all street art hunters! As has become my habit, I am always hoping to find a new or not so new mural, waiting to be discovered. In this case, the works that I have come to show you are seen to be many years old, it is known from how faded they are due to the action of time and the sun, as well as the themes represented in them. These are located in Venezuela, more specifically in the center of the city of Barquisimeto. And it was unexpected to find them, since they are in a quite remote area, where there is very little traffic of people. I was on my way to visit a friend and almost arriving at his home, I noticed that long wall with a couple of faded murals.

The first, brought me nostalgia, since on the left side, they drew the Rialto cinema, that cinema has been abandoned for years and the only thing that remains is its peculiar structure. I remember going in only once to see a show and I was surprised by how old its facilities were. Still, I had a lot of fun that day, so every time I pass by the abandoned movie theater, I inevitably don't remember that day. On one side, the characters from a 1970s Venezuelan film called "The Smoking Fish" are represented. I remember seeing the movie with my brother a few years ago, but I don't remember almost anything about it hehe In any case, I feel that this mural captures that golden age of cinema in the country. I don't know what year they drew it, but surely the artist treasured his memories too much to want to draw this specifically.

The next one, I think represents a typical dance from the country's folklore called "Tamunangue", in it, the dancers use sticks or clubs to represent a battle with background music. The sun has almost washed out its colors, so it was hard for me to appreciate it while it was in the sun, but now that I look at it better, I can see the details that the artists put in, like the folds in the fabric. I like the detail of the flowers at the bottom, I think it adds a certain harmony to the scene.

Finally, on that same street but on another wall, there is a rather interesting drawing, since whoever did it took advantage of the hole that appears to be from a pipe, to make the figure of a baseball catcher. Too bad some people used it as a garbage can, but I find the idea quite ingenious and fun.

Cool work with a style reminiscent of old movies. Perfect for the subject. And very funny the last work, great idea. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Thanks for stopping by to look at them. I also find it curious how artists use the available spaces to unleash their imagination.
