Acoustic Evening With Jonah Baker & Friends

We were invited to a pre-wedding event, and while it's just a twenty-minute drive from here, I am still feeling tired from our recent trip, and not in the mood to go out (again), so the hubby went by himself. Our little boy got excited when he saw his Dada changing clothes, but after noticing I wasn't moving, he quietly settled next to me on the couch, resting his chin on my leg.

And so we lazed all evening and listened to some acoustic covers by Jonah Baker, which I am now sharing as my participation in the TTT initiative by Ablaze. But before that, here's a short introduction about Jonah, quoted from his website, re:

An Indiana-born singer who began learning instruments at the age of three. Developing his musical skills as he grew up, he taught himself how to record, mix, produce, and edit videos. At 16, he began sharing acoustic covers on YouTube, where he has since gained a following of over 800k subscribers and more than 300 million streams worldwide.¹

Okay, so he was into music at a very young age and developed his talent and skills over the years. He's got it in him, I say.

Anyway, the tune below was a collaborative single performed with Samuel Harness, an American singer-songwriter with raw, soul-drenched vocals.

You Felt Nothing

A beautiful blend of two distinct, melancholic vocals. Their emotional delivery highlighted the song's vulnerable theme. Accordingly, the lyrics were composed by both artists, with Jonah's brother, Samuel Baker. The song was released three years ago, and I just discovered it tonight!

The next tune is a collaboration with Dave Moffatt, the Canadian musician and a former member of the 90s pop-rock family band The Moffatts.

Don't Dream It's Over

Released last year, this acoustic cover is quite nice. I thought they were a dynamic duo. Their beautiful voices (Jonah's warm and Dave's never-rusting high-pitched vocals) blend seamlessly, without overpowering one another. Awesome!

And let me end this three-tune edition with Jonah and Xenia's rendition of Lady Gaga & Cooper's song. By the way, Xenia was a contestant on The Voice 2011.

Shallow

Xenia's clear, soulful voice blends beautifully with Jonah's soft and melodic vocals, resulting in a warm, calm, and soothing vibe. Like the first tune above, I played this more than once, because it's truly relaxing.

The hubby arrived with some Watwat, so music paused, for it was time for supper😁
