En #Humanitas buscamos promover la reflexión en torno a lo humano, por esa razón queremos plantear hoy una pequeña reflexión en torno al sentido de la vida. De manera a priori, parece natural considerar la vida como poseedora de sentido, en otras palabras, todos tenemos una razón de ser, pero, no por nada, el sentido de la vida ha sido uno de los asuntos que más ha dedicado atención el ser humano.
Todo tiempo y toda cultura ha intentado responder al asunto del sentido de la vida de un modo particular, lo cierto es que podemos vivir una vida entera pensando que nuestra vida tiene un sentido, y jamás saber cuál es ese sentido. Parece que encontrar la respuesta de la pregunta ¿cuál es el sentido? Es la prioridad. Porque sería muy esclarecedor saber cuál es nuestro sentido. Pero, es posible que haya una pregunta aún más primigenia, y que apuntaría al meollo del asunto del sentido, y es preguntarse ¿por qué?.
¿Por qué un sentido? ¿Hay necesidad?, pero, incluso, todavía hay una pregunta anterior a todas las que se han nombrado. ¿Hay un sentido? Cuando afirmamos que hay un sentido por qué lo hacemos, ¿acaso hay alguna evidencia? Hay suficientes modos de interpretar este asunto como para escribir una monografía entera, pero lo que buscamos como comunidad es mover a la reflexión y que cada persona pueda aportar su criterio sobre el sentido de la vida.
Es posible que el sentido de la vida sea un espejismo, una ilusión forjada por la humanidad para no mirar el abismo de su propia condición. Porque si algo caracteriza al ser humano, es que carece de alguna especificidad como los animales, parece que fuésemos creaturas adaptables, moldeables, y si nuestra condición de movilidad es la responsable de los planteamientos sobre el sentido, porque el sentido, no sería otra cosa que una especie de certeza, así como la vida misma saber que la certeza que tiene es seguir viviendo, o el león posee la certeza de ser un depredador, parece que el ser humano no posee alguna certeza.
Biológicamente, parece que las especies con mejor capacidad de adaptación son las que progresan, pero el ser humano no progresa por su adaptación al medio, sino que edifica su propio medio, un medio que va cambiando conforme a los tiempos, en una acción bidireccional. El medio creado de manera artificial manipula al ser humano, y el ser humano a su vez manipula al medio que crea, y aunque parezca una paradoja, esta idea puede arrojarnos alguna luz sobre el sentido de la vida.
Parece que pensar en el sentido de la vida puede hacernos crearlo, y modificarlo conforme como lo interpretemos, y eso mismo nos modifica. Edificar un sentido parece que fuese una habilidad inherente en el ser humano, porque de tal modo como hemos construído la cultura, los complejos sistemas religiosos y lingüísticos, el sentido de la vida parece ser una de esas cosas que nos mueve.
El existencialismo del siglo XX, en específico Jean-Paul Sartre hace todo un interesante análisis de la libertad humana. Y si miramos un poco del sentido de la vida desde esa óptica parece que la vida en sí, carece de sentido, y que asumir este reto de sabernos sin sentido es el verdadero acto heroico, porque, aunque exista posibilidad de que la angustia no OS invita, está incertidumbre viene a ser lo que nos mueve a crear nuestro propio sentido.
No porque de manera innata podamos carecer de sentido nos hace insuficientes, o vulnerables frente a la vida. Sino, que nos dota de un poder edificante. Sea como fuere, carecer de sentido o poseerlo de manera innata, el sentido de la vida es una posibilidad de entendernos cómo seres en el mundo.
Ahora bien, si recuerdas, el título de este escrito habla de propósito y hasta ahora solo hemos hablado del sentido de la vida, ¿Acaso es lo mismo? Creo que es una cuestión que debes responder tú, estimado lector.
Como comunidad, promover la reflexión es lo que nos interesa, y aunque a veces sea algo intercambiable el propósito y el sentido, parece que el sentido juega un papel un tanto más profundo.
Hablar de propósito, quizá parezca intentar mirar un horizonte y el sentido parece proyectar un suelo donde apoyarnos.

In #Humanitas we seek to promote reflection on the human, for that reason we want to raise today a small reflection on the meaning of life. A priori, it seems natural to consider life as having meaning, in other words, we all have a reason for being, but, not for nothing, the meaning of life has been one of the issues that human beings have devoted more attention to.
Every time and every culture has tried to answer the question of the meaning of life in a particular way, the truth is that we can live a whole life thinking that our life has a meaning, and never know what that meaning is. It seems that finding the answer to the question "What is the meaning? is the priority. Because it would be very enlightening to know what our meaning is. But, it is possible that there is an even more primordial question, and that would point to the heart of the matter of meaning, and that is to ask why, why a meaning, is there a need?
But there is still a question prior to all those that have been named. Is there a meaning? When we assert that there is a sense why do we do so, is there any evidence? There are enough ways of interpreting this issue to write a whole monograph, but what we seek as a community is to move to reflection and that each person can contribute their criteria on the meaning of life.
It is possible that the meaning of life is a mirage, an illusion forged by humanity to avoid looking into the abyss of its own condition. Because if something characterizes the human being, it is that he lacks some specificity like the animals, it seems that we are adaptable, moldable creatures, and if our condition of mobility is responsible for the approaches on the meaning, because the meaning would be nothing more than a kind of certainty, just as life itself knows that the certainty it has is to continue living, or the lion has the certainty of being a predator, it seems that the human being does not have any certainty.
Biologically, it seems that the species with the best capacity for adaptation are those that progress, but human beings do not progress by adapting to the environment, but by building their own environment, an environment that changes with the times, in a bidirectional action. The artificially created environment manipulates the human being, and the human being in turn manipulates the environment he creates, and although it may seem a paradox, this idea can shed some light on the meaning of life.
It seems that thinking about the meaning of life can make us create it, and modify it according to how we interpret it, and that itself modifies us. Building meaning seems to be an inherent ability in human beings, because the way we have built culture, complex religious and linguistic systems, the meaning of life seems to be one of those things that moves us.
The existentialism of the 20th century, specifically Jean-Paul Sartre makes an interesting analysis of human freedom. And if we look at the meaning of life from that point of view, it seems that life itself lacks meaning, and that taking on this challenge of knowing that we have no meaning is the true heroic act, because, although there is a possibility that the anguish does not invite OS, this uncertainty is what moves us to create our own meaning.
It is not because our innate lack of meaning makes us insufficient or vulnerable in the face of life. Rather, it endows us with an uplifting power. Be that as it may, whether we lack meaning or innately possess it, the meaning of life is a possibility to understand ourselves as beings in the world.
Now, if you remember, the title of this paper talks about purpose and so far we have only talked about the meaning of life, is it the same thing? I think this is a question that you, dear reader, must answer.
As a community, promoting reflection is what interests us, and although sometimes purpose and meaning are somewhat interchangeable, it seems that meaning plays a somewhat deeper role.
Talking about purpose may seem like trying to look at a horizon and meaning seems to project a ground to stand on.

Me gusta eso último que dices dónde estableces diferencia entre sentido y propósito, estoy de acuerdo porque le da a toda esta reflexión un carácter más personal, y por otra parte totalmente diverso porque al final no sólo tenemos un propósito sino que nos mueven también varios propósitos.
