Greetings to everyone at #Humanitas! We begin the Human Culture Initiative N°13: Utopia. You may have heard this word before, and if you don't know exactly what it means in a moment you will understand it. Last week we had a very creative initiative in which the participants had to look for an image and interpret it based on semiotics (the study of sign systems and their interpretation). This week we will also have an initiative that appeals to creativity, but first we are going to thank the participants of the previous week for their valuable publications:
What is an Utopia?
According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), a utopia is defined as "Imaginative representation of a future society with characteristics favorable to the human good".
According to Wikipedia, this word derives from Greek, and literally means "non-place". What does this mean? A utopia is a society, place, country, republic, etc., ideal or perfect, and, therefore, non-existent. It is that ideal of human society that we imagine would be perfect, but at the same time would be unreal or that does not exist in the real world. We could make the analogy with the idea of "Platonic love", that which we idealize in our minds.
All this may sound fanciful and of no use in the real, practical world. But it could also be said that utopias have as a function, according to what we can read in Wikipedia: orient the ideas of the present in one direction, evaluate what currently exists, make a criticism of what already exists, and also provide hope of a possible better future initially created in our imagination. "Human beings are utopian beings*".
Initiative: Describe your Utopia or ideal of a Human Society
Knowing these concepts, perhaps they will help us to do an exercise of imagination, and create, at least in our minds (and in a post), a better world. Currently things like the metaverse, games, movies, etc., are in fashion, so perhaps it would not be something so strange to us in the modern world unlike people of antiquity. But it's not a matter of forgetting reality or failing to put our feet on the ground, but at least intellectualizing how the world could be a better place, and how it could be achieved.
How would people treat each other? How would they live? What would the ideal government or state be like? How would they solve crime and security problems? What would the economy be like? What role does religion play? What would the day-to-day life of a human being be like? How would you describe the ideal society? Etc.
Sometimes what happens in the real world can leave us overwhelmed, especially if we constantly receive information from the media. Wars, global warming, pandemics, etc. Sometimes it is good to disconnect and try to imagine something better. Imagine an ideal world, according to your own opinion, your own perspective of how things should be, where everything works the way it should work, according to how you think it is right What would that ideal world be like where you or your descendants would like to live?
All this may sound very general, so we will give you some tips or ideas that you can develop:
To encourage a bit of creativity, your vision can be inspired by anything, be it a movie, series, book, etc. Of course, the idea would be that you give it your personal and original touch. You can base it on whatever you feel is right. Feel free to follow any ideology, model, lifestyle, etc. that you consider right or adequate in your ideal world. Everyone will have their own vision and it would be very interesting to read everyone's, and find differences or similarities, or perhaps some unexpected detail that everyone has in common.
In Wikipedia we can also find some examples of utopias from which you can draw inspiration, raised in history by some thinkers and philosophers. We could ask ourselves: What does the human being look for when idealizing a model of society? What different visions have existed and what aspects of the human essence does each one seek to develop?
These are just some suggestions or tips that you can follow to create your publication. You are free to imagine that utopia or ideal society and enjoy the process. ¡Saludos a todos en #Humanitas! Damos inicio a la Iniciativa Cultura Humana N°13: Utopía. Quizás habrás escuchado antes esta palabra, y si no sabes exactamente qué significa en un momento lo entenderás. La semana anterior tuvimos una iniciativa muy creativa en la que los participantes debían buscar alguna imagen e interpretarla en base a la semiótica (estudio de los sistemas de signos y su interpretación). Esta semana también tendremos una iniciativa que apela a la creatividad, pero antes vamos a agradecer a los participantes de la semana anterior por sus valiosas publicaciones:
¿Qué es una Utopía?
Según la Real Academia Española (RAE), una utopía se define como “Representación imaginativa de una sociedad futura de características favorecedoras del bien humano”.
Según Wikipedia, esta palabra deriva del griego, y significa literalmente “no-lugar”. ¿Qué nos quiere decir esto? Una utopía es una sociedad, lugar, país, república, etc., ideal o perfecta, y, por lo tanto, inexistente. Es aquel ideal de sociedad humana que imaginamos sería perfecto, pero a la vez sería irreal o que no existe en el mundo real. Podríamos hacer la analogía con la idea del “amor Platónico”, aquel que idealizamos en nuestras mentes.
Todo esto puede sonar fantasioso y sin ninguna utilidad en el mundo real y práctico. Pero también podría decirse que las utopías tienen como función, según lo que podemos leer en Wikipedia: orientar las ideas del presente en una dirección, valorar lo que existe actualmente, hacer una crítica a lo ya existente, y también brindar esperanza de un posible futuro mejor creado inicialmente en nuestra imaginación. “El ser humano es un ser utópico”.
Iniciativa: Describe tu Utopía o ideal de Sociedad Humana
Conociendo estos conceptos, quizás nos sirvan para hacer un ejercicio de imaginación, y crear, al menos en nuestras mentes (y en un post), un mundo mejor. Actualmente cosas como el metaverso, juegos, películas, etc., están de moda, por lo que quizás no sería algo tan extraño para nosotros en el mundo moderno a diferencia de personas de la antigüedad. Pero no se trata de olvidar la realidad o dejar de poner los pies en la tierra, sino al menos intelectualizar cómo podría ser el mundo un lugar mejor y cómo podría lograrse.
¿Cómo se tratarían las personas entre sí? ¿Cómo vivirían? ¿Cómo sería el gobierno o Estado ideal? ¿Cómo resolverían problemas de delincuencia y seguridad? ¿Cómo sería la economía? ¿Qué papel juega la religión? ¿Cómo sería el día a día de un ser humano? ¿Cómo describirías la sociedad ideal? Etc.
A veces lo que sucede en el mundo real nos puede dejar abrumados, especialmente si constantemente recibimos información de medios de comunicación. Guerras, calentamiento global, pandemia, etc. A veces es bueno desconectar e intentar imaginar algo mejor. Imagina un mundo ideal, según tu propia opinión, tu propia perspectiva de cómo deberían ser las cosas, donde todo funciona cómo debería funcionar, según cómo lo consideres correcto ¿Cómo sería ese mundo ideal donde te gustaría que tú o tus descendientes vivan?
Todo esto puede sonar muy general, por lo que te daremos algunos tips o ideas que puedes desarrollar:
Para incentivar un poco la creatividad, tu visión puede ser inspirada en cualquier cosa, ya sea una película, serie, libro, etc. Por supuesto, la idea sería que le des tu toque personal y original. Puedes basarte en lo que tú consideres correcto. Siéntete libre de seguir cualquier ideología, modelo, estilo de vida, etc. que consideres correcto o adecuado en tu mundo ideal. Cada quien tendrá su propia visión y sería muy interesante leer la de cada quien, y encontrar diferencias o similitudes, o quizás algún detalle inesperado que todos tengan en común.
En Wikipedia también podemos encontrar algunos ejemplos de utopías de las cuales te puedes inspirar planteadas en la historia por algunos pensadores y filósofos. Podríamos preguntarnos: ¿Qué busca el ser humano al idealizar un modelo de sociedad? ¿Qué diferentes visiones han existido y qué aspectos de la esencia humana busca desarrollar cada una?
Esto son solo algunas sugerencias o tips que puedes seguir para crear tu publicación. Tienes libertad para imaginar esa utopía o sociedad ideal y disfrutar del proceso. Opcional: ¿Cómo entra Hive en esta utopía? ¿Qué posición ocupan las criptomonedas en tu utopía ideal? ¡Esperamos tu participación!
