Yesterday we celebrated World Philosophy Day, which according to UNESCO's indications is celebrated every third Thursday of November. A few weeks ago I received an invitation from a professor at UCLA to celebrate this day by participating, along with other speakers, in a conference/conversation on philosophy on a topic related to the area. From the beginning I had clear the topic to share (which I will tell you a little later) but I also considered it a very propitious occasion for Hive to have a space to show the benefits of blockchain technology from a philosophical point of view, so I contacted my good friend @filoriologo, I raised the possibility, we made the necessary arrangements to get his participation and happily we did it.

Yesterday was the day of the lectures and for me it was very pleasant because I lived them with great attention and emotion, because although I am a professor of philosophy it is not the same to study/teach than to philosophize and this is what we did in each of the lectures, of which I would like to leave a small summary so that we notice the applicability for our lives has what is known as the "mother of all sciences".

The cycle of lectures was opened with the disturbing question "What is philosophy for? I loved it because the answer that was reached after a very brief tour of what some philosophers have said about it is that philosophy is for thinking, and although it seems something simple and even meaningless, because we all think or at least we think so, it is something that has a great depth, since it is not the same to think in any way and superficially than to think philosophically.

One of the anecdotes that caught my attention in this regard is that the speaker told us that in the doctorate he is doing ("Educational Sciences") philosophy is present from the beginning to the end. And it is that we can expand this reality that was shared with us, also saying that if what moves the threads of history and human life is thought and the way in which we direct it, philosophy should have a greater space not only at the academic level, but also from the very level of our daily life.

After this excellent topic, it was the turn to expose the relationship between blockchain technology and philosophy. Surely @filoriologo I will leave you more details about it, since he was the speaker and the one who prepared to develop the topic. However, I do want to leave some of my impressions, because as @gorayii commented on twitter is to take Hive to another level, the academic, which is incredibly positive, because it is there, in the various institutes of study, where there is an important contribution to the integral formation of people.

Therefore, how interesting it was to have the presence of the dean of humanities and arts, which highlighted the importance of having made this issue present within the university, which allows us to be bridges of intergenerational union for the various communities and families, for whom we must make this type of progress of humanity close to them, which by the tools that have implicit can contribute positively to the development of society.

After the expectations generated by the presentation on the Blockchain, in which reference was also made to Hive, as one of the projects with great potential within it, it was my turn to present my paper, which dealt with the relationship between philosophy and theology in an author who since my studies in the seminary has caught my attention, is a Swiss thinker named Hans Urs Von Balthasar (1905-1988), which I chose because his proposal is really very accurate to talk about this kind of subject.

In a few lines we can say that his approach invites us to maintain an attitude of constant openness to dialogue between these two great areas of knowledge, since they mutually illuminate each other. In this regard, I liked one of the comments that said that sometimes we find that people of faith hold negative attitudes not only with philosophy, but with science and culture in general, just as on the contrary there is also this kind of prejudice. Therefore, without betraying one's principles, one should have a more open mind and a willing attitude to dialogue, because - following the author who guided my presentation - we can find beauty, goodness and truth within other styles of thought and from other perspectives.

IMG_20221117_115634.jpg

The last lecture that was presented to us was about Aristotle's ethics of goods, which was very enjoyable and interactive, because just as we said about philosophy, it is not only about knowing about ethics, but also about being ethical, because although there are different customs and ways of being, behaviors can also be molded according to certain principles.

Among the various goods to which the human being aspires, the main one is happiness. What does this word mean for each one of us? What level of guilt can we have in terms of society in general in not educating correctly about it? These were some of the questions that we debated here and that it is worthwhile for us to ask ourselves again and again, since the philosopher is not the one who has the truth, but the one who is in constant search of it.

This has been my summary of the excellent experience lived yesterday that I also shared with friends hivers, César and @zullyscott. Really everything was great, because we continue to make Hive present in Barquisimeto from different scenarios.

I found, on its last day of active publication, this article very interesting. It made me reflect on the importance that philosophy still has today and the reality of its daily usefulness.
Literature, artistic expression, audiovisual media, stimulate the imagination of the human being in this contemporary world, but they do not provide man with great stimuli to develop and promote his critical and rational thinking. Philosophy provides equanimous tools, questions moral authority and cultural traditions. Some researchers maintain that "philosophy is something outdated", based on the fact that science occupies a supremacy in knowledge. The most critical detail, is when the researcher relies on Philosophy to develop analytical thinking, always looking for the capacity and moral orientation, ethical vision; which, are essential competencies for human convience.
Greetings @jesusalejos
