Greetings fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!
We are having a cozy Holiday weekend here; staying nice and warm while a cold wind blows outside and it looks very gray. But it's CATURDAY again, so time to share some new cat photos!
So much to see, in a new place!
Smudge Settling In...
Smudge, our new arrival, is slowly settling into her new surroundings!
It's not easy when you're an older cat and already settled in your ways, but she spends much more time out in the open, checking out her new world. And her ears are now up and attentive, where she was very "owly earned" for the first couple of days.
She spends a lot of time just "sitting and looking" as we cats are apt to do... but she also loves the big picture windows in the living room, where there's a clear view of all sorts of things, outside.
Of course, being snuggled in a warm blanket is her favorite. It's warm and comforting... and she just goes to sleep while purring.
All in all, we think she's making the transition to our place pretty well, and we are letting her figure things out at her own pace, and that seems to be working well.
She has ventured outside the "kitty gate" to the rest of the house a couple of times, but prefers — at least for now — to stay in the space where she "landed" and where she has her own things from before, with her smell on them.
I have been peacefully nose-to-nose with her a couple of times, but so far we are only allowed to sniff each other with Hooman supervision.
She and Daisy the dog have only looked at each other across the room, so that will be an upcoming step in the introductory process. Fortunately, Smudge comes from a house with both another cat and a dog, so this is not all totally new to her.
I mostly sit and watch, from spots where I have a good view.
Hopefully we will all be great friends within a few months, and Smudge can have a comfortable, loving and safe time with us here!
The Hoomans are also being very good about making sure that I also get plenty of attention!

Meanwhile, Hive... Wow!
I am sure a lot of us who have been here a long time have been waiting for the day when it would feel like "all the hard work has finally paid off!" And now, all of a sudden, we have $2.00+ Hive!
Whether or not that's actually going to last remains to be seen, of course... and I'm certainly NOT one of those who might see this as "an invitation to cash out and run!"
I'm in this for the long run... and — as I have periodically stated — what's interesting to me is thinking about where Hive might be, on my 10th Anniversary, in March of 2028!
Of course, I know not everyone sees things that way, but hopefully there's enough room for many different approaches to live side-by-side!
Speaking of "Long Term..."
One of the many Hive projects I am watching with some interest is the recent "offshoot" of the Proof of Brain community, called "Verify Your Brain."
It's not that I fancy myself as a "brainiac" cat, but the focus of the new initiative is precisely a "100% staked token" intended to be held in the long run.
I am actually one of those "weirdos" who thought that the original setup on "Hive 1.0" which was two years to power down was a sensible approach, helping ensure a certain degree of user loyalty. Alas, I am in the minority, being more of a user than an investor.
Anyway, time for me to send this out and get back to my Caturday nap!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.
Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the recently formed Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and has quite a bit of cat content!
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
