Did you know I can drink? 🍻

in BEER β€’ 2 years ago (edited)

I was supposed to do this beer post a few days ago. I have no idea if I am late with my entry but since I promised @detlev that I would send in my entry, I am keeping to my words.

I had published a post about the history of drinking in my family. I did share my mum sold all brands of drinks with no adherence to religious beliefs. This means, she sold beers even though our religious beliefs were against it. (It wasn't that strict, but grandma tried to make sure we followed it in my family). The location of my mum's store made it impossible for mum to ignore selling beers. This was because a large population of her customers was men who loved drinking. So, they spent every evening devouring crates upon crates of beers. In large numbers, if I must add.

Owing to the environment I grew up in, I decided to learn how to drink once I was 18. I didn't do it, I waited, but, when it was time for me to leave home, I knew it was important, for survival instinct (that's what I thought)

I mentioned it to my fiancee and he said I should start with something with a lesser acholic percentage, and this was how my beer journey started. I started with Star Radler. Just one bottle. A few days later, I bid my parents farewell and relocated to a new neighborhood.

My beer journey started with Star Radler
Once I got there, I met a neighbor who got back at the same period I relocated and he requested we get to know each other through a bottle of drink. Great! I said. However, I don't drink any other drink apart from Star Radler, I told him.

What? That's children's drink he said jokingly. I ain't buying you, Star Radler, hell no, he finished. He told me he'll teach me to drink another brand of beer and that I will love it.

He did. We headed to the store and he made me consume two bottles of Origin Beer. I think I was drunk(don't laugh, it was my first time, hehehehe). He brought me home. And went to his room. I locked my door and zoom off till the next morning.

He was right. I fell in love with Origin Beer, and it's my brand of drink up till now. Fast forward, weeks later, I met a young lady who loves drinking and through her, I learned to drink. Goal reached... Lol.

I trained with her, knowing my limits and stuff. I watch the way my body reacts when I eat before drinking and when my tummy is empty. I learned how many bottles I can go before misbehaving (don't ask me, I won't tell you)

These days, I barely get to drink, it's no longer a priority. However, if someone offers to buy me a drink and I asked for Malta Guinness, they refuse, I always order Origin Beer. If the store does not have Origin Beer, I go for Smirnoff Ice.

It's the new drink on my list. I do not enjoy it as much as Origin Beer, but it's a great substitute so I don't get to drink the children's beer, Star Radler, as my neighbor called it... Lol.

Interestingly, learning to drink was so I can fit into the world of men. I didn't want a situation where I can't "behave like the Romans when I am in Rome". It was a blending-in plan and I am happy it worked. Although, I hide the fact that I can drink these days, so to look innocent and all. It's cool to act naive and less than your mark, sometimes, it gives you room to surprise people.

Ps: This is my entry to the #BeerSaturday and I am celebrating week 239 with the beer community. Hey, @samostically I hope you are a fan of beer because I am inviting you to write a post about beer with a minimum of 3 pics in any language, for this week's #BeerSaturday.

Origin beer huh?

I haven't heard of it and think I would like to try that knowing it is your favourite. Just a quick trip to Nigeria!

Pleased, make the trip as soon as possible. You'll definitely love the beer too... Lol.

I enjoy drinking Smirnoff ice although I remember how I and my friend consumed two bottles and almost got wasted we were able to detect it fast and got water to cool off. I have also tasted star randler but not as much as I have tasted Smirnoff ice.

I started tasting beer first when I drank bullet and oh my God, that drink was the death of me because I couldn't go a day without taking it. I have tested the blue and black can but I loved the blue can more.

They are both great drinks but I won't want to step my boundary beyond those two drinks.

Nice entry.

I like the blue bullet too. I have never tasted the Black..... Hehehehe...... People kept saying the black will get me high, so I ran πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Yes, the black has alcohol in it, so there is a probability that it will get one high. I love the blue bullet more than the black because of its sweet taste.

Awwwnnnn.... You are making me blush πŸ™ˆπŸ₯΅πŸ˜…. Thank you. ❀️

It's hard not to overdue your drink. Since beer tastes so darn good one or 2 seems like you never tasted it. I'm not a heavy drinker anymore. When I was younger that's a different story. Say 18+ on a weekend was not uncommon. Needless to say my tummy was not a happy camper. But I just kept going.lol

Hahaha, your beer experience is superb, I wonder what your tummy is trying to say to you πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

It was saying nooooooooo moreeeeeeeeeee beeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr lmao

Someone told me days ago how she should have bought me Smirnoff drink on my birthday. I laughed, though I only tasted "33" beer when I was so young and in secondary school then. My mom was also into selling of beer because of the location where we were. I still do not drink except mineral and I am trying to try one someday πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Jeez, I don't like 33, my taste buds doesn't like it. Hehehehe, Madam mineral.... Lol. Thanks for reading dear
