Is a #beersaturday post on Monday ok?

Let's see what we have here ...

Some days ago I went to an Aldi supermarket here in the Netherlands to buy some tobacco.
You still have to enter the supermarket with a shopping cart - even if you want to march to the checkout directly where they store the tobacco.
So I walked with my empty shopping cart directly to the checkout but stumbled about two Belgium beers they offered for an interesting price.
That's how it works, isn't it? You exactly know what you want to buy and see these special offers ... and you simply can't resist 😇.

OK, tobacco beer from Belgium - this is the review for the first of the two beers I bought

The label designer might not win the prize for the best design. At least it's not my idea for a so-called Triple-Triple Belgian Abbey Beer.

But it stands out - you will notice it just like I did.
And even if the marketing department might not win the prize for the best label ... the beer did win a prize!

World Beer Awards Europe Bronze

I'm not sure if the 16 in the O of Bronze stands for 2016 and the price is 4 years old already. But we know now that this beer has alc. 8.7% vol. which is quite a lot.

So let's do this

After removing the cork like opening a good bottle of champagne, I filled two glasses which was easy with a 75cl bottle.

The taste

What you might not have noticed in the first picture is that they say "Enriched with Spices".

On the back label they say:

STEENBRUGGE Triple is a top-fermented, blond abbey beer with a warm, full flavor and hints of coriander, curacao (orange peel) and cinnamon. Its fruity, lightly smoked yeast aroma combines perfectly with the typical blend of herbs and spices which gives the beer its unique, delicious flavor. STEENBRUGGE Triple has a modest and truly accessible nature, also known as Sint-Pieter's abbey in Bruges. Ideal to unwind after a busy day.

Can I second this?

Well, it has an interesting taste for sure.
It is sweet and bitter at the same time. The longer you need to empty the glass the more you'll taste the bitterness which might be because the beer warms up. You just do not drink such a heavy beer like you would drink a Pilsener.

But I have to admit I would buy it again. The price - I think it was 2.99 euro a bottle - is absolutely ok for what you get.

I'll let you know about the other bottle soon

But until then I say cheers.

Any day even a Monday is good for !BEER Saturday!! The label looks a bit tame for this beer, but the bright blue does attract attention, looks like a nice beer!!

Exactly my thoughts :)
Thanks for stopping by.

I think with this post it's okay to post a beer saturday on a monday. At least it can bring someone on ideas for the next saturday, right? Good read, and good to know you would be buying this one again ... We have vacation now, who knows ... 😉

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words :)
Vacation ... yeah ... my manager asked me if I would not like to take one week of every month until the end of the year so that I would have some fewer holidays left at the end of the year.
I'm considering to do so ... :) Three weeks working every month until end of the year sounds not that bad ...

Oh that's not bad at all ... I think I would go for that.

that beer is a stunning bronze colour - I'm can almost taste the sweet toffee malts now.
