An old friend of mine drove to Liverpool yesterday from Portsmouth just to visit this amazing craft ale bar.
Ok, that is a bit of a stretch 😂 he really made the 7 hour drive to meet up with a mutual friend who was celebrating his birthday. Whatever the reasons, we ended up at Outpost which I haven't been to in years, staying there for most of the night.
This place really has it all... vegetarian & vegan pizzas, craft beers on draft and cocktails for the non-ale peeps like myself. These days I have to live vicariously through my friends when it comes to real ale as any beer other than lager really effects my chronic gut condition badly, but I badgered my friends to take pictures of their ale to share with all you beer aficionados here on hive.
It's worth mentioning that the pizza here is also amazing. I split a giant 'large' Cheesus Christ with my mate Pete which lived up to the pun-ishing name by providing enough cheesy goodness to make a lactose intolerant explode 🤣
Danny, who's birthday is was, had a The Shredder which I swiped a piece of and was surprised to find vegan cheese, vegan duck and hoisin sauce all work together! Who would have thunk it!
I stayed on the Outpost Lager all night which was a crisp and very tasty pilsner.
There were a few different beers that weren't listed on the board such as Camden Town and Top Rope key lime pie pale ales.
Most of my friends were deep in conversation and didn't really want to give me 'quick caption' reviews for my 🍻 blog, but Pete did say that the key lime pie pale ale was really tasty, but a little of an acquired taste. When I asked him what he meant, he said "It is really nice, but I wouldn't drink more than one."
The Camden town pale ale seemed to be a favorite with the group along with the Leffe blonde.
Located on Renshaw street in Liverpool city center, the Outpost bar has a really cool atmosphere, with a slightly hipster vibe. It was fairly busy last night but the staff were on point serving quickly and were very knowledgeable about the beers.
And like all good nights out we arrived at Outpost while the sun was still in the sky...
and left after dark 🍻🍻🍻🍻😂
The hangover today is a ripe one for sure, but worth it hanging out with friends I haven't seen in over 5 years. Much fun was had by all 🙂
In conclusion, if you're ever visiting Liverpool I can highly recommend Outpost for all your Pizza and Craft beer cravings.
