Me Sourgraping Over Facebook or Spilling the Beans?

Yep Facebook has become such a dictatorial social network I'm surprised a lot of people are still using it. The time for Facebook is past, so glad there are plenty of other social networks out here online.

For years palala ng palala ang Facebook. Yeah it keeps getting worse as years go by. I am an online seller and since they introduced Marketplace they've become stricter and stricter on what you can post. It's just sad really.

Here's some of the things I noticed:

1 . First was a few years ago, they started restricting your account for the number of times you post the same thing in various groups.
And then you can't post the same comment after several times in those same posts in various groups. (Like to bump the post.)

2 . Next they started reviewing ads before they get posted on the marketplace. Now some of those old posts look like this.

Yeah I'm not gonna remove it. It's just sitting there to remind me what kind of place Facebook has become.

3 . Then of course they began removing and restricting certain products from being posted even if a lot of competitor products are being posted by others. Wow. Fellow online sellers can be terrible sometimes. They (product competitor sellers) will report the product you're selling just so their product/brand will sell more. That's just bad seller behavior. 👎 And of course Facebook is none the wiser, they will not delete all the similar products just because no one reported them. Disgusting and discriminating eh?

4 . Facebook then started to create automatic For Sale posts out of any shared/re-shared Facebook link. I mean wtf?! Using AI and not giving the option to turn it back to a normal post is annoying. Of course because of this, the automatically turned into for sale posts would undergo review and may or may not get approved or will look weird as an ad when approved.

What's supposed to be a simple ad post with or without pic became a complicated Facebook thing. 🙄

5 . And then of course it began restricting the ads/boosted posts based on the categories/filters you selected, including the countries where you posted it. Wow. I mean, how can you target the right market when they think it's discriminatory to select certain interests and location and such? That's just ridiculous. 🤦‍♀️

6 . There's also the restriction or getting banned from posting anything for a week or 30 days just for sharing certain links/products and such. Wow. Definitely no more freedom to express yourself on Facebook. Those days are over.

I even think there's two kinds of "Facebook Jail," first is when someone reports your account you have to provide ID for verification. Once submitted you'll get the above statement. I might be wrong, it might be a yearly thing. Who knows?

Second is when you've posted too many of the same things in too many places. That or the product you posted about was reported by a jealous or pathetic product competitor seller. At this point you're probably on a Facebook watch list of some sort. I dunno. What's worse is if the AI made a mistake again and automatically flagged what you posted. Ugh.

Hey don't take my word for it because I didn't research how to get banned/restricted on the effing site. I've submitted my ID a couple of times since I've signed up. Pffft. Am still on Facebook because I'm not doing anything illegal, duuuh. I'm not even mean or derogatory to anyone online like the rest of the bored population. 🙄

(Even if someone was really doing illegal stuff they just keep on making new accounts anyway. Pffft. Too many online trolls and paid trolls these days. Thank God that God has too much patience for human beings. 🙄)

Yeah I know it's not easy maintaining a free and popular website but come on it's getting very dictatorial and you can't even talk to a live person who can actually help you. That's just sad. Customer service is terrible.

(eBay is way better than Facebook in that regard. Hah. Well at least back when I was still using it a lot. But now this month eBay PH changed and started to impose management of member eBay earnings. What's uuuup. 😂😂😂 Sellers can't use eBay PH anymore unless you let them, eBay, manage your money. Get outta here. 😂 Bye eBay Philippines.)

What do I think of Facebook now?

I don't know how many times I've been in "Facebook jail" just for being an online seller. (Maybe less than 10x?) Too many restrictions just to sell on it. Pffft. Hey beggars can't be choosers and definitely someone who doesn't have their own online store/website like me. They even introduced account restrictions page on your profile. Come on.

Aside from the social network problem, there's also the people problem. Everybody's so onionskinned or envious and some just evil to other fellow online sellers that it turns Facebook and other free online marketplaces into something terrible and dictatorial. Spell GREEDY.

In the first place, Facebook boomed in the Philippines because of us users/members/sellers who moved to it when Multiply closed down. Multiply was a very popular social network before it failed miserably by trying to charge users for selling on the website. Sounds familiar?

Well I guess this just means Facebook may be gone in a few more years or so. Am definitely waiting for the next Facebook to come by. Especially now that it's total bullsh*t when using it. Good riddance if Facebook deactivates my ad account permanently. They're doing me a big favor by not allowing me to pay for member views, clicks and such. 😂 Certainly saves me from spending too much without getting any solid results.

Come to think of it... 🤔 I have NEVER sold anything by using Facebook ads, like ever. Last year when the lockdown happened, I didn't even have to use ads to sell stuff. I just posted on the Marketplace and boom, sold several fresh milk products. ❤ Thanks Facebook. 😂

Anyway a quick search online and you'll see some articles saying Facebook has been losing users steadily due to privacy concerns. Well if that's true then they're also about to lose more online sellers soon if they keep doing what they're doing or make it much worse.

What do you think? Have you also experienced being in "Facebook jail"? Is it for the same reason as I experienced or for what violation was it?

Market hive as a free space for sellers, you don't get those problems here.

There's a market hive? Where? How to post there? Is it a community?

No, there isn't. I'm saying you can promote what you're selling without worrying about losing visibility if you just promote your blogs and drive traffic here rather compete on the same territory where only the few are favored.

Haha ok, that clears it up.
