"Just to travel is rather boring, but to travel with a purpose is educational and Exciting." Sargent Shriver
Hello Hivers! How are you today? I hope you are all fine and in good health. For today's blog, I will share my unforgettable experience during the Regional Festival of Talents held in Panglao, Bohol, Philippines last S.Y 2018-2019. It was my second trip to Bohol Island. My first trip was during the Tree Growing and Nursey Management Training. Bohol is one province belonging to Region VII, Central Visayas, and is known to tourists because of its natural wonders like land and water formations. Bohol is also noted for its beautiful and perfect land formations, the Chocolate Hills. Visiting this province is everyone's dream.
In today's article, I'll show you the wonderful spots and beaches I saw throughout my 5-day stay. Before I go any further, I'd want to describe the Regional Festival of Talents. This activity is a competition for students who have skills in a variety of fields or disciplines such as technology and Livelihood Education, Sining, Singing, Culture, and Arts Choral Group Competition, Araling Panlipunan, Filipinos, Pambansa Tagisan ng Talento, and Foreign Language Special Program.
All divisions in Region 7, Central Visayas, will compete with each other. The winners of the regional level will compete at the national level. This year I am one of the delegates since I am one of the TLE officers in our Division and the District TLE Coordinator. During the Division level, we won the Cookery and Dressmaking, so our district is a part of the Cebu Province delegation.
How We Get There
At pier 3 Cebu City, we rode a Fast Craft Super Ferry boat to Tagbilaran City Port. It took almost 2 hours of travel from Pier 3 Cebu City to Tagbilaran Port. Thank God we arrived safely at the port together with some tourists. We had a very convenient trip during that time.
Billeting Quarters
At Tagbilaran Port, we rode a service vehicle to Danao Elementary School, Panglao, Bohol. Danao Elementary School is our billeting quarter. From Tagbilaran Port, Danao Elementary is more or less 44 km. If we don't have a private vehicle, we travel by bus in going there
The Opening Program
The 2018 Regional Festival of Talents was hosted by the Schools Division of Bohol. The Opening Program was attended by various Divisions of Region 7. There was a showcasing of talents from Bohol Culture and Arts Performers and it was so entertaining. The opening program ended successfully. Right after the opening was the contest of Bayle. This dance is an exhibition of modern or contemporary dance skills on a street dance parade anchored in a specific theme.
The Contest Proper
Right after the opening program was the contest proper of various skills. Since I was assigned to monitor the Technolympics Skills Competition, I proceeded immediately to the contest venue. Several contest skills competed in the Technolympics. Technolympics is the contest of various skills in Technology and Livelihood Education. Landscaping, dish gardening, fish cooking, chicken cooking, dressmaking, electrical installation, electronics, and cabinet making were the skills competed during the RFOT 2018. The contestants were all skillful in their chosen specialization.
The Quick Tour
After the contest, I decided to take a short tour. I went to the Tagbilaran Church, restaurant, and white beaches of Alona Beach Panglao, Bohol, Cebu. I took pictures and poses as memorabilia for once in a lifetime and visited the most well-known beaches in Panglao Bohol. The views were so amazing and relaxing. I enjoyed strolling the beach.
That was the last RFOT conducted before the pandemic struck. When the pandemic struck our country, various school competitions were suspended. Hoping that competitions for different skills and talents will be revived in the coming years. Not only in academic but also in non-academic.
That's all for today's blog. I hope you enjoy viewing and reading. Thanks a lot!
You talked about an interesting event - the talent festival. Thanks for sharing your culture.
Yes mam! Very interesting. A showcasing of talents and skills of our learners.
I remember this every year during highschool. I took a major in Electronics in our TLE subject, and our section were often participating in Technolympics. I'm not fond of participating such events but it's kinda fun to attend and look around with each crafts that the students have made.
Wow,congrats for that @ayane-chan Ayane-chan.Its nice to hear that.
This kind of activity is one among many ways to develop student's talent. It will expose them to real world after they graduate.
That was also a great trip, traveling while working and enjoying that trip is indeed a bonus for you. Thanks for showing this great place of Bohol to us. I haven't been in Visayas ever since.
