A little History.

Sinulog Festival is held in celebration of the most historic relic in the Philippines the Sr Sto.Nino. The Miracle Child, A statue of baby Jesus was given to Rajah Humabon Of Cebu by a great colonist Ferdinand Magellan in 1521 during the Spaniard Colonization.

Sinulog is derived from a Cebuano word "sulog" which means "like a water current movement" which is the Sinulog dance step Forward-Backward stepping comes from.

MY 2020 SINULOG EXPERIENCE

20200119_140623.jpg

I attended the last SINULOG in 2020 when the Covid-19 not yet attacking the country. Together with me is my College Classmate Reynato who also works here in Cebu. It was his first Sinulog and for me, it’s my Second time. My First was in 2019 when I start transferring here to Cebu for work. We are both from the Province of Samar Philippines, It's another Island in the country and before when Sinulog Festival comes we just saw it on Television and dreamed to attend the festival someday. We are both excited to experience it in actual Celebration.

The Festival is held in the center of Cebu City. All Roads going inside the City are closed for transportation. Roads along Abellana Avenue are used for a grand parade of delegates for this festival and for street dancing. By the way, all signals for telecommunications are suspended that day for the safety purposes of everyone.

Delegates are from different places showing their Kind of Celebration of Sinulog. Others are from the Province of Cebu, and others are from different Islands of the Philippines. They come together in Cebu City to Celebrate the biggest Festival in the Country.

Aside from the delegates of Sinulogs, there are also Filipino Celebrities joining the parade and making the crowd scream and excited.

The parade and street Dancing take an estimated of 8 hours on the street, yes guys that's how long the parade was before it ended. It was so hot at that time when we are joining the parade, We finish a lot of bottles of water not just dehydrated. It is so very crowded, all people are dancing and enjoying Sinulog Music.

We have fun and are amazed at how the Sinulog Festival is Celebrated in Cebu. It is more lively compared to our place. You will see a lot of people and it is fun looking at them enjoying the Festival even in the middle of the crowd.

After the parade, we meet our other friends in Ayala mall to have dinner and ended our Sinulog adventure by attending a concert by Sponge Cola, a Filipino local Band that we all admire. We love the song of the band and we are all glad we heard it live.

a lot of celebration in the PH is actually rooted in the colonization of Spaniards. I always thought that Sinulog is a very grandiose festival, hehe. Super bongga! I do wish I can attend one in the future.

The parade and street Dancing take an estimated of 8 hours on the street, yes guys that's how long the parade was before it ended.

Gosh, I might faint if I was there O_O

Thanks for the tips too, Intoy!

Your welcome @jijisaurart,happy to share some information about Sinulog with you 😊

Pit Senior! One of the biggest festivals in the Philippines. I love to watch street dancing again which we used to do before. It was such a great joy!

The bond with my family at Ayala Center, I missed this also. Just like what you have done with your friends, we did it with my family too. I hope this will happen again.

Definitely, you are right, take extra care while attending this feast, bad people are roaming around looking for their victims.

Be vigilant all the time.

Pit Senyor @naymhapz, Indeed we need to be vigillant on this Feast.

One of the things that I certainly miss during this celebration is attending the holy mass especially sa part nga kantahon ang Bato Balani. Lahi ra ang feeling.

Pit Senyor!

Lagi, makatindog ug balahibo

I am familiar of Sinulog festival coz it's one of the most popular festival here in our country. But I had never attended live. I wish I can attend to someday.

You will surely enjoy it when you experience the Featival

I think since I was in grade school, we have always studied about the different festivals in PH, and Sinulog has been on the first list. One of the things I want to experience is joining such festivities. I want to try going to Higantes Festival, Panagbenga, and Sinulog.

Visit Cebu soon to experience the Sinulog.

Sinulog looks fun, too. Same with Masskara Festival here, it took hours for the parade to finish. Then, at night, there's a dancing competetion for the same set of street dancers. You need to be a warrior when you join such dancing competetion. Enjoy sa gala po. Nakita mo ba sina Indayclara diyan?

Wala , di pa kami nagkita..

Yes, bring food because all the restaurants and even those small stores occupies a LOT of people. TaaS kaayug pila.😅 Water is very vital pud when celebrating sinulog. And wear shoes if you don't want others to step on your toes. 😅

Hahaha Wear shoes gyud ang importante hahaha

As in.
Sakit kaayu matumban.

Murag jud kag naglakat sa kalapukan. 😅🤣

Ni rhyme na ko diring dapita 😅

Wow! Fantastic celebration indeed. I miss this way back when I was still there in the city. I experienced once when we were the ones controlling the crowd not to get closer to the contingents during the parade. It is exhausting but fulfilling. Just be extra careful there. Stay safe and God bless.

A Fun and memorable experience indeed,

Yeah, it was.

Never pa talaga naka-attend ng Sinulog ba. For sure super saya niyan.

Anyways, I can naman din talaga na you really enjoyed it my friend.

Marami talagang Tao pag ganito, Make sure talaga na ready ka sa crowed at siksikan. But all was Fun and great experience.

Kaya nga eh. Para ako'ng mahihimatay sa dami nang tao. Hihi..
