Piryahan ( A Festive Celebration part 3)

The reason why people come or visit is if there is a festival it's because of the goods and entertainment. Piryahan is one of its places where the gamblers meet. Gambling is prohibited but if it's here it's alright, this is allowed because it's part of the celebration. It's open to everyone whether you have money or not just to watch.

Piryahan is like a casino maybe but they're using cash here. Also, there's no such minimum amount of money to spend on gambling. Like other gambling games, it's fun and thrilling, especially when you only have a small amount of money to gamble. Well, to make it clearer let's have photos with descriptions.

Most people who play this kind of gamble are kids. The one who let the game play placed a certain amount inside the plastic cellophane but of course with numbers under. Then at the bottom part inside the plastic cellophane, the random numbers can be found. For as low as 1 peso or just a cent in USD, someone is allowed to pick a number. Well, only children are being fooled by this kind of gambling. Though don't get me wrong, someone won as well, for just 1 peso it can win for 100 pesos. While others won 20, 30, 50, or much bigger pesos. It's just that adults didn't fool in this kind of gambling because it's obvious that you can win this game for 1% only. lol

Rolita or spin the wheel of course can be found there. It was located along the street since not too many people would play this. I'm not sure why even though most gambling games here have some cheating. It's not that bad because if you'll be lucky you can still win for a bigger amount. However, the winning money you will win depends on how much money you bet.

A drop ball is one of the known gambling games in a "piryahan." There are 25 holes with numbers where the ball volleyball can be stuck on it or stop where it will be decided what number wins.

This game is very fun for both children and adults. When the ball is dropped the players are hoping the ball will be stuck in a certain number of their bets being placed. It's become more thrilling because you know the ball will keep rolling and rolling. When you thought it finally stopped in the numbers you placed your bet it will eventually move and go in the different numbers. Well, that's what makes a game fun if the players feel like that. It becomes more exciting to play because of it.

I'm sure most of you will recognize this kind of gambling game named Bingo. It's so popular in our place that even though it's not allowed to play, the locals in our place were hiding just to play it. This is the kind of game that most housewives are playing.

This game is allowed here so you can expect that a lot of adults, especially women, are playing it. Plus, the price is bigger here. I even heard that the other day the winning prize for the final bet, where all the card numbers should be filled in, is one sack of rice. Imagine for as low as 20 pesos you can win that kind of price with an amount of 2000 pesos or more. Aside from the price, this kind of game is very fun because filling numbers is already fun.

The final gambling game where the bigger amount is being bet is called "hantak." To understand it easily this is how the game plays. Using two coins, (I don't know those types of coins because I'm sure it's not Philippines money) the game will be decided with "hari or patay". It's like tails and heads of coins for others to understand how to decide the winner of the game.

When the money is being bet, one of the players will come up to that stage-like and let him/her toss the coins. Make sure not to let it outside the circle when tossing it. A round stone is below and lets the coins drop on it so it will help to bounce the coins. If two coins are in the "hari phase or heads" the one who just tossed the coins will continue. However, if it goes to "patay or tails" the one who tossed the coins will go down and change for another tosser.

There's a referee to avoid cheating or to correct if the kind of tossing is wrong. This is the most played gambling game here and also uses a bigger amount of money in betting. Some players or gamblers bet thousands of pesos. For certified gamblers this kind of gamble they prefer to play.

Don't misunderstand if you'll see people playing here. Most of them just want to have fun rather than gambling. To kill time or to join the fun with the celebration of festival.

Piryahan is one thing that made the festival fun. People really love to be there once in a year and some people enjoy gambling as what you shared. But me, I didn't do it. During festival I visit some piryahan to enjoy rides and enjoy walking around and have some food. Thanks for sharing it @mrnightmare89

True, not all people who visited the place were to gamble. They would just to experience fun by enjoying the vibe of people maybe.

Oh pirya/perya, I missed betting when I visit pirya/perya during a fiesta. I hope during the next fiesta will bring more games on pirya/perya.
