Una hermosa tarde la de este viernes, con muchísimo béisbol criollo, continúa la segunda jornada de la Serie del Caribe Gran Caracas. Luego de una etapa inaugural por todo lo alto, como siempre rompiendo pronósticos, regresa el menú del calendario con el plato fuerte, otra vez la pelota.
Una vez más el equipo cubano abre la sesión de los juegos, en esta ocasión en horario de la tarde, se enfrentan a los Tigres de Licey de Dominica. Equipo que llega con un revés, luego de perder en la jornada del jueves ante México 5 × 4; sin embargo, Agricultores llega a este encuentro luego de probar el sabor de la victoria 3 × 1 ante Curazao.

Agricultores (CUB): en esta ocasión le dan la pelota al jovencito de 25 años Jonathan Carbó #62. Oriundo de la Isla de la Juventud es un lanzador derecho que debuta en Series del Caribe, ha sido el caballo de batalla de los Piratas de La Isla durante los últimos años.
De por vida en nuestros torneos Nacionales: Series- 9, JL- 116 (84 como abridor), JG- 26, JP- 36, PCL- 4.69, C- 288, CL- 255, WHIP- 1.55, INN- 489.2, K- 270, BB- 227. Se ha enfrentado a 2192 bateadores y le han pegado 530 hits.
En el 2022 estuvo en la Liga Italiana con el equipo BBC Grossetto, fue su primera experiencia dentro de una Liga internacional:JL- 10 (Todos como abridor), JG- 4, JP- 4, PCL- 2.25, WHIP- 1.07, C- 15, CL- 14, INN- 56.0, K- 63, BB- 16, Se enfrentó a 232 bateadores y permitió 44 hits.

Tigres del Licey (DOM): Domingo Adrián Robles #14 , otro jovencito experimentado de 24 años , zurdo nacido en Imbert Dominicana. Lanzador muy controlado, ponchador, efectivo ante zurdos y difícil de desifrar por lo que permite pocos jonrones. Estuvo en Clases A, A+ y AA en el período (2015-2019).
Posteriormente, fue traspasado hacia la franquicia de los Cardenales de San Luis, a la cual pertenece actualmente y con la que ya ha jugado dos temporadas en Clase AA (2021 y 2022). Debuta en Series del Caribe, aunque ya acumula dos temporadas en la Liga Profesional de su país (LIDOM) durante las temporadas 2020-21 y 2022-23, ambas con el equipo Estrellas Orientales.
Tigres del Licey (DOM): Domingo Adrián Robles #14, another experienced 24-year-old left-hander born in Imbert, Dominican Republic. Todo transcurría tranquilo para ambos serpentineros hasta que en la alta de la tercera entrada, Dominicana rompe la calma fabricando tres carreras. Un error en tiro de Yosvany Alarcón a la intermedia provoca como resultado la anotación de la primera del choque, hit al LF del veterano Robinson Canó impulsa la segunda. Ramón Hernández conecta Rolling por tercera ideal para doble play, pero siendo malo el tiro a la inicial entra la tercera del encuentro.
En el final del quinto despiertan los bates de Agricultores, Andrés De La Cruz conecta buena línea al LF que se convierte en doble, así entraba Avilés con la primera y única carrera para el equipo Cubano. Los nuestros se vieron inferiores al elenco Dominicano, que con toda calma, jugaron con el profesionalismo ganado por años de oficio de jugar a una pelota, en la que cada vez quedamos más mal parados.
Everything was going smoothly for both pitchers until the top of the third inning, when the Dominican Republic broke the calm and scored three runs. An error in Yosvany Alarcón's throw to the middle infield resulted in the first run of the game, a hit to LF by veteran Robinson Canó drove in the second run. Ramon Hernandez connected Rolling for third ideal for a double play, but being a bad throw to the first baseman, the third run of the game was scored.
At the end of the fifth the Agricultores' bats woke up, Andres De La Cruz connected a good line to LF that turned into a double, and thus Avilés got in with the first and only run for the Cuban team. Our team looked inferior to the Dominican team, who calmly played with the professionalism earned by years of playing a ball, in which we are getting worse and worse.

A modo de resumen fue un buen juego de pelota donde Cuba pudo ganar, pero bueno, los errores tácticos y las imprecisiones a la hora de tomar una decisión dieron al traste con la derrota. En la 8va entrada perdiendo Cuba 3 x 1 con hombres en 1ra y 2da sin out, viene a batear Raico Santos que aunque ha estado mal es un buen bateador de contacto lo mandan a tocar bola. Cuando ahí la jugada es dejarlo batear, pienso que ahí precisamente se fue el juego, porque una cosa es que el equipo no batee y otra es que el manager tome malas decisiones.
Los bateadores nuestros deben escoger mejores los lanzamientos, no irse con los malos y dejarse cantar los buenos lanzamientos. Hombres como Viñales que se espera más de él no está bateando, se ve muy ansioso, poco selectivo a la hora de batear, de él tanto como de Los hermanos Alarcón y Avilés depende en mucho esa tanda de bateo para sacar adelante al equipo.
To summarize it was a good ball game where Cuba could have won, but well, tactical errors and inaccuracies when making a decision led to the defeat. In the 8th inning losing Cuba 3 x 1 with men on 1st and 2nd with no outs, Raico Santos comes to bat and although he has been bad he is a good contact hitter, he is sent to touch the ball. Sin embargo, el hecho de que solo nos hayan propinado tres carreras, es una muestra de que si tenemos calidad, que si hay béisbol. Las palmas para el picheo de relevo, prácticamente los héroes del partido sin lugar a dudas, está claro que necesitamos cambiar muchas mentalidades obsoletas, que no hacen bien a la pelota Cubana.
Un Béisbol que no me canso de decir, cada día se desangra más, por lo tanto, somos el resultado de lo que hacemos, mientras tanto seguimos sufriendo e ilusionándonos con los nuestros. El director cubano Carlos Martí confirmó al derecho granmense, Yoel Mogena, para enfrentar en la jornada de mañana a los Leones de Caracas.
