La actuación del equipo cubano de este último sábado fue catastrófica y clasifica como la peor en un juego de béisbol de Serie del Caribe y, sin querer ser absoluto o apelando a la memoria, no recuerdo un partido de este deporte en el que a una selección nacional cubana le hayan anotado tantas carreras.
En esta publicación el autor hará un análisis y dará sus consideraciones, sobre lo ocurrido con nuestro equipo en este juego y lo que puede suceder a futuro, sino se toman en consideración elementos que se hacen necesarios transformar, por el bien de nuestro pasatiempo nacional.
Leones de Caracas vs Agricultores de Cuba.
El encuentro se disputó en el horario estelar porque jugaba el anfitrión de la serie y su rival de turno uno de los equipos con más historia y resultados, no sólo en las series del Caribe, sino de todo el béisbol en general. Por tales razones, más de 30 000 aficionados venezolanos acudieron al estadio, para apoyar a su equipo y este no los defraudó.
Antesala
Los dos equipos tuvieron una situación parecida en sus partidos anteriores, pues, tanto los Leones de Caracas, como los agricultores de Cuba vencieron en sus partidos iniciales, contra los equipos que representan a Panamá y Curazao y cayeron en sus segundos encuentros frente a los conjuntos de Puerto Rico y República Dominicana respectivamente.
Ante tal situación y con todos los equipos de la serie empatados en victorias y derrotas se afrontó esta tercera jornada del torneo, con el incentivo de quien ganara el encuentro pasaría a compartir la cima de la competición.
El juego.
El equipo de Agricultores fue visitador y comenzó anotando una carrera en el inicio del juego fruto de los dos mejores bateadores del encuentro: Yunieski Laduet y Yosvani Alarcón. En el final de esa entrada los de la tierra de Bolívar hicieron 7 carreras y 2 más en el segundo inning y no pararían hasta marcarle 20 carreras a los cubanos y pegarle 25 imparables a su pitcheo.

Más allá de ser el peor resultado histórico de un equipo de béisbol cubano, Venezuela también logró igualar la marca de hits para un encuentro en series del Caribe con 25, pero varios elementos están por encima del resultado y son a los que quiero referirme:
•Se vio a un equipo cubano desarticulado que no supo buscar respuestas ante los argumentos del rival,
•El pitcheo que se había comportado de manera aceptable no aguantó en ningún momento. Esto lo habíamos alertado tras los refuerzos escogidos por una selección a la que era esta área la que le hacía falta reforzar mejor,
•La defensa del equipo estuvo muy mal y contra rivales de este tipo no puedes darte el lujo de tener tantos errores,
•La principal fortaleza del equipo que es el bateo ha sido silenciada y sólo se hicieron justicia Yunieski Larduet y el receptor Yosvani Alarcón quienes pegaron 5 de los 9 hits del equipo,
•El equipo no tuvo fortaleza psicológica y no supo salir de situaciones complicadas utilizando este recurso, lo que en ocasiones le hizo cometer errores reiterados,
•La receptoría estuvo muy mal y cuando esto sucede los resultados son fatales porque el receptor es el jugador que guía, no sólo a los lanzadores, sino a la mayoría de los jugadores a la defensa.
•El equipo se vio fuera de foco, pues no están acostumbrados a jugar de noche; algo que más de una vez lo hemos discutido en el país. Los juegos deben ser nocturnos, es real que hay una situación económica durísima, pero siempre que se pueda debe hacerse.

Mis consideraciones
Si queremos avanzar:
•El cambio tiene que ser radical, con elementos reales que cambien la concepción que tenemos del béisbol y valoraciones objetivas que nos permitan volver al lugar que tuvo nuestro deporte nacional en el mundo.
•Debemos proponernos tener una Liga Profesional Cubana, en la que los peloteros ganen por su esfuerzo, rendimiento y en la que puedan jugar no sólo peloteros del país.
•Se tienen que actualizar y/o cambiar los sistemas de entrenamientos, metodologías y todo lo que tenga que ver con este deporte.
•Aplicar de manera consciente los resultados de las investigaciones científicas aplicadas al deporte.
•Mejorar las condiciones de vida, la logística y todo lo que tenga que ver con la vida del verdadero protagonista (el jugador); lo que redundará en rendimientos adecuados y calidad demostrada.
Comentario final.
El juego de este último sábado constituyó la peor actuación de un equipo cubano en una Serie del Caribe y a la vez es un duro golpe para todos los amantes al que es considerado como deporte nacional de este país. No fue solamente por el marcador y la cantidad de carreras recibidas, sino por el triste espectáculo que mostraron a lo largo del encuentro.
Es cierto que tel equipo ha escenificado pocos juegos, pero salvo en el primer encuentro contra Curazao, en los otros dos encuentros no se ha visto un equipo dominante ni dueño de las situaciones de juego. Incluso, en la victoria inicial solamente vinieron a dominar la situación en las postrimerías del juego.
Mucho tendrá que trabajar el cuerpo técnico, para tratar de revertir esta situación. En este sentido, el psicólogo del equipo tendrá un papel fundamental y deberá buscar las herramientas necesarias, para sacar al equipo de este triste momento.
¿Avanzarán a la siguiente fase? Calidad tienen para eso, pero en honor a la verdad, como están afrontando esta competencia no pasarán a la siguiente ronda. Ojalá me equivoque porque en béisbol en Cuba es más que un deporte: Es orgullo nacional.

What was staged this Saturday, February 4 at the stadium of the Leones de Caracas of Venezuela was one of those episodes or stories that one would not like to narrate. But, beyond results and passions, I have decided to be consistent with my philosophy of sports and publish the performances of the different sports activities of my country, with the aim of making known our achievements, difficulties, projections and strategies; something that @fulldeportes also suggested to me on one occasion and that I am so grateful for.

The performance of the Cuban team this past Saturday was catastrophic and ranks as the worst in a Caribbean Series baseball game and, without wanting to be absolute or appealing to memory, I do not remember a game in this sport in which a Cuban national team has been scored so many runs.
In this publication the author will make an analysis and give his considerations about what happened to our team in this game and what may happen in the future, if elements that need to be transformed are not taken into consideration, for the good of our national pastime.
Leones de Caracas vs Agricultores de Cuba.
The game was played at prime time because the host of the series was playing and its rival was one of the teams with more history and results, not only in the Caribbean series, but in baseball in general. For these reasons, more than 30,000 Venezuelan fans came to the stadium to support their team and they were not disappointed.

The two teams had a similar situation in their previous games, since both the Leones de Caracas and the Cuban Farmers won in their first games against the teams representing Panama and Curacao and lost in their second games against the teams from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, respectively.
Given this situation and with all the teams in the series tied in wins and losses, this third day of the tournament was faced with the incentive that whoever won the match would share the top of the competition.

The Agricultores team was the visitor and started scoring a run in the beginning of the game thanks to the two best hitters of the game: Yunieski Laduet and Yosvani Alarcón. In the end of that inning, the team from the land of Bolivar scored 7 runs and 2 more in the second inning and would not stop until they scored 20 runs to the Cubans and hit 25 hits to their pitching.
Summary of the game.
Beyond being the worst result ever for a Cuban baseball team, Venezuela also managed to equal the record of hits for a game in a Caribbean series with 25, but several elements are above the result and are the ones I want to refer to:
We saw a disjointed Cuban team that did not know how to find answers to the rival's arguments,
The pitching, which had behaved acceptably, did not hold up at any time. We had warned about this after the reinforcements chosen by a team that needed to be reinforced in this area,
The team's defense was very bad and against opponents of this type you can't afford to have so many mistakes,
The main strength of the team which is the batting has been silenced and only Yunieski Larduet and the catcher Yosvani Alarcon who hit 5 of the 9 hits of the team did themselves justice,
The team did not have psychological strength and did not know how to get out of complicated situations using this resource, which sometimes made them make repeated mistakes,
The catcher was very bad and when this happens the results are fatal because the catcher is the player who guides, not only the pitchers, but most of the players on defense.
The team looked out of focus, because they are not used to playing at night; something we have discussed more than once in the country. The games should be played at night, it is true that there is a very hard economic situation, but whenever possible it should be done.

If we want to move forward:
The change has to be radical, with real elements that change the conception we have of baseball and objective assessments that allow us to return to the place that our national sport had in the world.
We must propose to have a Cuban Professional League, in which the players earn for their effort, performance and in which not only players from the country can play.
We have to update and/or change the training systems, methodologies and everything that has to do with this sport.
To consciously apply the results of scientific research applied to the sport.
Improve living conditions, logistics and everything that has to do with the life of the real protagonist (the player); which will result in adequate performance and proven quality.
Final comment.
Last Saturday's game was the worst performance of a Cuban team in a Caribbean Series and at the same time it is a hard blow for all lovers of what is considered the national sport of this country. It was not only because of the score and the number of runs received, but also because of the sad spectacle they showed throughout the game.
It is true that tel team has staged few games, but except for the first game against Curacao, the other two games did not show a dominant team or the owner of the game situations. Even in the initial victory they only came to dominate late in the game.
The coaching staff will have to work hard to try to reverse this situation. In this sense, the team's psychologist will have a fundamental role to play and will have to find the necessary tools to get the team out of this sad moment.
Will they advance to the next phase? They have the quality to do so, but in all honesty, the way they are facing this competition, they will not advance to the next round. I hope I am wrong because baseball in Cuba is more than a sport: it is national pride.
Concuerdo con usted respecto a la profesionalización del béisbol en Cuba. Los equipos del Caribe tienen acceso a herramientas de sabermetría y vídeo que no posee la selección nacional cubana.
Esto ofrece un hándicap enorme a favor del contrincante porque la ciencia estadística llegó al deporte para quedarse y si los equipos no tienen por norma esto, difícilmente podrán competir.
No creo que jugar de noche sea una gran ventaja por dos razones: a) la pelota es más visible en un ambiente nocturno cuando viaja hacia el home-plate y b) las temperaturas son más frescas para los peloteros en los países tropicales como los nuestros.
Sin embargo, sí supondría una ligera desventaja la falta de costumbre, pero no creo sea determinante.
Por lo demás, el Caracas llevó un equipo muy competitivo y bateador, como lo demostró en la serie final ante los Tiburones de la Guaira.
