Verán, yo no empecé siendo @purrix.

Él siempre me leía y me decía, casi sufriendo: "No, Purrix... ¡puntos suspensivos noooo!".

If anyone had told me back in February 2018 that my story in this ecosystem would begin with a "cybercrime", I wouldn't have believed it. When I found out about Ruta Blockchain's wonderful initiative to remember our introductions through their new dapp, I couldn't help but smile and, at the same time, feel a bit of nostalgia. To tell my story, honestly, I had to type two usernames into the search bar.

You see, I didn't start out as @purrix. My journey began under the username @lichy, and back then, I was completely clueless. I was fascinated by writing, but I didn't have the slightest idea what the word "curation" meant, what "markdown" was all about, and so on and so forth.

I was like, "say what?" I was stumbling from place to place trying to decipher how this new world worked, but at the same time, I was thrilled by the simple and brilliant idea that I could receive rewards for doing what I love so much.

But ignorance comes with a high price. Less than two months after my debut, I made the classic rookie mistake: I clicked on a suspicious link left in a comment, and in the blink of an eye, I lost my account forever. Although I moved heaven and earth to recover it, it was impossible. I had to wipe away my tears and start from scratch with my current account, @purrix.

Looking back, losing @lichy was the best thing that could have happened to me. That first account was a cute disaster. Not that it wasn't a bit of a disaster at the beginning with my current account either, since I was still in that discovery stage. Not only was I lost technically, but as a writer, I had an incorrigible vice: I put ellipses on absolutely everything! I remember with great affection a great friend that the platform gave me the opportunity to meet later on, @rocoduran. He would always read me and say, almost in pain: "No, Purrix... no ellipses, pleeease!".

With my new account, I decided to do things right. Although I walked alone for a while, the real magic happened when I stumbled upon the creators of the The Union server. Two incredibly kind and attentive people who became my guides. They gave me the push I needed: "Participate in contests, get involved in the activities of the Discord servers, and make yourself known." I followed their advice blindly, and the results were wonderful.

That era was a beautiful, fun, and extremely busy craziness. I lived jumping from server to server on Discord, attending live curation programs, sharing with people from all over, and, most valuable of all, strengthening bonds of friendship so deep that they still remain in my life today.

In the end, answering the questions of this initiative makes me realize that the blockchain didn't just exceed my expectations regarding the reach of my words; it transformed my life on a human level. It taught me about resilience (because boy, did it hurt to lose that first account), it polished my writing (goodbye to the excess of ellipses!), and it gave me a community that feels like home. Today I look back and I am grateful for every stumble, because thanks to them, I am the version I am today.

I take this opportunity to invite my friends @syllem, @cautiva-30, and @sacra97 to participate in this great initiative, so they can also share their memories of those early days with us.
