Continuing our walk, we arrive in front of the Ramos House, a fine example of Catalan modernist architecture. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it stands out with its decorated façade, wrought-iron balconies, and ornamental details typical of the style. Less famous than the major works of Gaudí, it’s still worth a visit to appreciate the elegance of modernism in a quieter, more residential setting.
Just a few steps away, Lesseps Square is a lively crossroads in the Gràcia district. It’s a passageway between the city center and the higher parts of the city, especially Park Güell. Here you’ll find a mix of old and modern architecture, cozy cafés, and a vibrant neighborhood atmosphere.
Overlooking the square, the Church of the Virgin of Grace and Saint Joseph, locally known as Josepets, is a landmark of the neighborhood. Built in the 17th century, it features a baroque façade and a peaceful interior. Inside, you’ll find a serene atmosphere, colorful stained glass, and a simple yet historically rich décor.
En continuant notre promenade nous arrivons devant la Maison Ramos qui est un bel exemple d’architecture moderniste catalane. Construite au début du XXème siècle, elle se distingue par sa façade décorée, ses balcons en fer forgé et ses détails ornementaux typiques de ce style. Moins connue que les grandes œuvres de Gaudí, elle mérite pourtant le détour pour apprécier l’élégance du modernisme dans un cadre plus discret et résidentiel.
À deux pas de là, la place de Lesseps est un carrefour animé du quartier de Gràcia. C’est un lieu de passage entre le centre-ville et les hauteurs de la ville, notamment le parc Güell. On y trouve un mélange d’architecture ancienne et moderne, des cafés, et une ambiance de quartier bien vivante.
Dominant la place, l’église de la Vierge de Grâce et Saint-Joseph, appelée localement Josepets, est un repère emblématique du quartier. Construite au XVIIème siècle, elle se distingue par sa façade baroque et son intérieur paisible. En entrant, on découvre une atmosphère sereine, des vitraux colorés et un décor simple mais chargé d’histoire.
