Hello Friends,
Hope you are well and enjoying your time.
After a long time I decided to travel. In the last few months, I did not travel at all for fear of Corona virus pandemic. Even, for the past few months I have been working in the office from home. The children's school is still closed. They are quite annoyed staying at home for long. So, I thought I would go somewhere on this Eid holiday. My wish is to travel to South Bengal. If you want to travel to South Bengal, you have to cross the Padma, one of the largest rivers in the country. And the much desired Padma Bridge has been under construction on this Padma river.
If you want to go to South Bengal by road, you can go two ways. But you have to cross the river no matter which way you go. Either you have to cross the river Padma by Mawa ferry or you have to cross the river by Daulodia Paturia ferry. Since I wanted to avoid contact with people as much as possible, I decided to go in my own car, so I went through the Mawa ferry. It should be kept in mind that the distance is much less when one goes through Mawa than Paturia-Daulodia. And the Padma bridge has been under construction along this side of the river.
Now let's know some information about the Padma bridge. The under construction Padma Bridge is the largest bridge in Bangladesh. This bridge will touch the three rivers, Padma Brahmaputra and Meghna. The length of the under construction Padma bridge is more than 6 km. It is 18 meters wide. This bridge has four lanes where motorized vehicles will run. Train line will also be placed on this bridge. Therefore, both rail and motor vehicles will be able to run on this bridge at the same time.
Padma Bridge is the most talked bridge in Bangladesh history. In constructing this bridge, the government of Bangladesh had to go through many ups and downs and obstacles. Finally, Bangladesh is going to build the largest bridge in the country with its own funds. To build the Padma Bridge at an estimated 3.5 billion USD with be required. It is really challenging for a developing country like Bangladesh to complete such a huge project with its own funds. While crossing the river Padma that day, I saw the under construction Padma bridge. It seems that the work has come a long way. Although corona virus infection may not make it possible to get the job done on time, everyone expects it to be completed in about a year and a half.
It is really difficult for the people of South and West Bengal to cross the river by ferry. Vehicles and people have to stand in long lines on both sides of the river. When the construction of this bridge will be completed, the misery of many will be removed. Everyone hopes that this bridge construction will be completed soon and everyone's grief will be alleviated.
Thanks.
Stay safe and healthy.
