Poem: In the sky

Dutch countryside - 1 July 2020 - Iphone SE 2020

This poem is dedicated to my children, who like many other children have a great imagination.

Going down the highway, staring at the heavens,
A bloated dragon transfixed my gaze.
It was spitting fire, but scared I was not,
As soon it disappeared into the haze.

Moving slowly along, waiting to be discovered,
Was a long wrinkled trunk, flailing in the air.
‘Twas easy to imagine the puffy elephant’s bellow,
I looked on with intrigue but had no fear.

Next in line - were two gigantic lions,
Floating high, but quickly were disarmed,
Becoming fluffy white clouds like pillows so soft,
A reminder that there’s no cause for alarm.

There were ships, horses and birds in flight,
All appeared against the skies - so blue,
Isn’t it amazing what an azure background,
Clouds and a vivid imagination can do.

I remember when I was so young, I used to have these kind of imagination whenever I gaze at the clouds - between this is a wonderful poem, I wish I had a whale power to vote it to the moon.

I thought this poem would have something for everyone afterall we were all a child at some point.
Thanks also re. the vote to the moon. 😀

Yes childhood phase is something we all share in common, lol.

Ah - the Dutch countryside makes me feel just a weeny bit homesick - lovely!!

And yes, we see in the clouds what our hearts and minds are open to see.

Aww sorry about that but I hope you will still enjoy the photos I post. I also posted a few photos of Amsterdam.
The terrain is different from your current location but I am always grateful for the diversity and beauty of nature.

Job well done, it's really nice to some quality write up with amazing pictures. Nice poem @momogrow

I'm glad to have found this right before your payment haha.

That's a beautiful poem! It reminds me the ones from Lewis Carrol ♥️

Many thanks @vicvperezdelara - now I am curious. When I get a chance I will check that poet’s work.
I am happy you enjoy it. My kids loved that it is dedicated to them.

And this is the magic of mesmerising under a blue sky littered with white clouds 💙

Yes indeed - a favorite pastime of many.

This is simply awesome. Your descriptive power is peerlessly superb. Wow. You remind me of my childhood years alot. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated. Happy I could also take you back to your childhood.

Lovely. Funny, just read two posts in a row about clouds. May be we are all looking up for a change!

I think we are @riverflows - looking and hoping for a change as the clouds change. After all - “as above - so below”.😀

I love the verses and the photos that came along. Your children's imagination are boundless :) It's truly fun to look up the skies and let the imagination soar.

Children do have a great imagination because they haven't been influenced by the world's rigid thinking yet.

Indeed - pity things change so quickly.
