Community Celebration: BdCommunity

When I joined Hive over 1.5 years ago, I tried to post in as many communities as I could possibly do based on the specific niches and skills I have. And it became clear to me at a point that not all communities are the same, even among the general ones that don't specialize in one single topic aren't the same. Moreover, the people who were posting in different general communities weren't always the same people. Each community has a certain aura to it, a certain feeling. Some always remained uncharted territories to me, and some opened up. Became familiar. And this is why community management matters. People who actively moderate a community, engage with it presently can create a certain sense of agreeable destination. A place you can hang out comfortably. And that is what I got from Bdcommunity.

Of course, the community is mostly made of Bangladeshi hivers and being a Bangladeshi I found fellow countrymen there. But I have no language barrier and initially, I mostly mingled with international communities so I did not end up there simply because of my ethnicity—but because of several distinct reasons. Let me elaborate a bit.

1. Fairness and no-tolerance policy towards platform abusers

May it be a milker, a plagiarizer, or low effort posts, bdcommunity officials are always on the lookout. Bangladesh, being a poor third-world country, has naturally a lot of hungry mouths that are constantly seeking new ways to exploit whatever they can. Many of them have no respect towards any platform rules whatsoever and their primary goal is to maximize rewards with the least amount of effort. Who better to stop these abusers than other Bangladeshi people who see the error of their ways! Bdcommunity officials have done a marvelous job at that and they're continuously doing so.
In fact, I found out many months later that, @zaku, one of the admins of the community inquired and cross-checked one of my early posts to see whether I was legit or not. And I totally understand why he did it. A newbie writing big-ass nice posts? Could it be that he's plagiarizing? Lol.
So yes, every new member of the community who posts regularly gets checked out to discern whether they are up to nefarious stuff.

2. Curation of worthy posts

Hive isn't a giant social media yet it is still a pretty big place and posts can often get overlooked by the curators and whales. Especially when well-written pieces get overlooked, it is really a shame for everybody, the platform, the writer, and the curators (they might not own up to it, but I believe they should.) BDcommunity account seeks to mitigate some of this, it finds out good posts to curate, instead of just voting for the sake of it to drain RC. While Bdvoter is not part of bdcommunity, it has the same goal and does the same and curates posts even outside of the bdcommunity.

3. A jovial festive place

Bdcommunity publishes a weekly magazine with authored pieces by the community members each week. It's a place to voice on many different topics. These topics are chosen by the community members. And the magazine itself is managed by the members too! The entire thing is the visage of a highly cooperative community.
Each week there is a voice meeting that is more like a meetup for everyone. People talk about whats going on in their lives, raise issues, discuss community-based stuff, and of course, crypto talk. A lot of crypto talk! After all, we are on a crypto platform. Because of these talks, many community members became crypto-savvy over the years. You could say bdcommunity is passively enabling people in the crypto space. It's a helping hand for anyone willing to learn.

And of course, the discord server is full of buzz throughout the whole day. True, some channels are only accessible to Bangladeshi people only (to talk in their native tongue) but many foreigners do use the community and its discord server on a regular basis.

And last but not the least, Bdcommunity discord has the most useful, most functional, and the most badass-kickass hive bot ever!

Having elaborated on these points, I rest my case. While I am an official of the community, I wrote these from an impartial view and can back each point with facts and data. Thank you for checking the post out.

Thank you for writing this and thank you for being here taking care of the people. My pet peev has always been that we can't provide you with the reach, but hopefully we can make it up with some honest friendship.

While I'm grateful for that, I do believe things change. Facebook's decline in popularity might create a snowball effect that ultimately brings more people here. Just a hopeful wish, but Im feeling a bit warm inside!

BDCommunity has become not less than a family for it’s members approach towards it, continuous check up posts, moderating every bit of its member's activities regularly and friendly approach of it’s moderators towards it’s members. As a newcomer I found the community super effective. Everyone reads posts, comments to inspire other's works and finally the weekly online meet up ❤️ Thanks to bdcommunity. It’s a great pleasure that I am a member of this family.
