The African people believe that one hand can't lift a heavy load to the head. So they suggest that both hands should help one another to easily lift the load.

Similarly, the Africans believe that one hand needs to rub the other in other for the hands to be clean.

Their message here is premissed on the importance of unity and why people need to work together to achieve a common goal.

A typical example of such unity can be found in broomsticks. A broom typically consist of individual broomsticks. When joined together to create a bunch, they form a formidable union that is hard to break.

While it is easy to hold a broomstick and break it without stressing yourself, you can't do same thing with a bunch of broomsticks.

Similarly, a broomstick can't do anything on its own. Perhaps, you are thinking it works as perfectly toothpick? Lols!

Not that kind of work. A broomstick can't sweep anywhere. It can't be used to dust anywhere, be it table, chair or the room.

A broomstick can get mixed up anywhere with no trace and in fact, a broomstick is literally irrelevant.

Bunch of broomsticks on the other hand, can be used to sweep the house, compound and anywhere.

A bunch of broomsticks is also used by Africans to make their 'Ewedu Soup' (Jute Mallow or Jew's mallow) draw well.

As a people, we see the importance of bunch of broomsticks and preach such unity among ourselves.

If we come together as a unit, we will be formidable as well and hard to break. But when we stay as individuals marking our territories, we leave open room for enemies to penetrate and destroy us.

Unity is very important for our continuous existence and survival. Just like a bunch of broomsticks that can't be broken, bend or destroyed easily, we would be a force when we unite.

Let's all think about this and see the importance of being united as one. Let's see the power of bunch of broomsticks in action by becoming a single entity.

Preach unity, embrace it and live it.

Thanks for your time.
