Nowhere is the African society at it's crudest than in its relationship towards women whose bodies have sagged from the weight of waiting and wanting children. Society wears a different set of glasses for the men. They are never to blame. -Excerpt from Dear Alaere.⁣

Dear Alaere is a book that tells us the story, of a sophisticated woman whom at the spite of life challenges, trys to navigate a balance between her career/work, marriage and the society at large..⁣

This read highlighted important themes cutting across childlessness, womanhood, love, sexism, male chauvinism, patriarchy, bribery, corruption, sexual abuse, assault, nepotism, spiritualism, polygamy and African culture misconception.⁣

I saw the hustle and bustle of the popular city of Lagos, giving a realistic experience through this book.⁣

`On the theme childlessness, I liked the perspective on which the issue was discussed about, rather than the regular female POV we get to see. This reminds me of how my heart goes out to the women out there, who had gone through alot, carrying the blame for the inability to bear a child when in most cases the spouse is the reason for it.⁣

This read is a reminder to us all why education is important and serve as a huge medium in debunking some myths, misconception and stereotypes.⁣
Specifically to me, the enlightenment on child gender formation before birth. The African culture and how it doesn't justify the issue of polygamy, and also the male chauvinistic ideology is useless.⁣

📖From the author's style of writing I was able to picture her interest and passion as an individual before reading through the (about the author) section.⁣

On the characters aspect; singularly the protagonist, I loved how she strived at it all especially, raising above the sexism that existed.⁣

PS: My heart still goes out to Alhaji Wasiu children, not him 🙄🙅🏾.⁣
