It's the time of year that pumpkins abound! I know here in the USA pumpkins represent Autumn and celebrating both Halloween and Thanksgiving.

I have many fond memories of when I was a child and going with my siblings to pick out a few pumpkins with our parents at a farm. I did the same with my children when they were young and I still enjoy visiting a farm to pick out a few pumpkins this time of year.

They also have pumpkins that you can re-use year after year!

I've been seeing a lot of these "warty" pumpkins lately and I have to say that I love them! The one in the middle of my first photo is known as a Peanut pumpkin.

It does seem like there are a lot more varieties around now then when I was a child or perhaps it was just about what was orange, big, round and would make a good Jack-o'-lantern. My son and a friend of his carved these pumpkins last year. It was at night and they carved them by the light of a dim porch light so I thought it best to do a few edits on them since they drew the face on them before carving and left a bit of the ink on them. Below that is a photo of them before they were carved. Also shown with an edit .. of course.

These days, I wait till after Halloween before carving into my pumpkins because some pumpkins make for some yummy pies and other baked goods. Some varieties are noted for being some of the best to use for pumpkin pies including the Long Island Cheese pumpkin and most blue (or bluish) pumpkins like the one I'm planning on carving up after Halloween. I believe this variety is known as a Jarrahdale.

The Crookneck pumpkin or just Neck pumpkin is another variety that can be used in pies and soups and more.

seasonhuntpumpkins10-26-2021-13ok.jpg

You could also make a pumpkin butter if so desired. I plan on saving a bit of raw pumpkin as a treat for my guinea pig Phil and for my daughter to give some to her bunnies. I'm also gonna save the seeds and bake them with some seasoning for some human snacking too!

seasonhuntpumpkins10-26-2021-14ok.jpg

No! I didn't bake this pie but I do love pumpkin pie! This was a slice from a pumpkin pie that I bought and it was indeed yummy!

seasonhuntpumpkins10-26-2021-15ok.jpg

Oh yeah! The white pumpkins are called Ghost pumpkins. I believe these are called "Baby Boo" pumpkins because they are a small (baby) pumpkin and "Boo" for Ghost. I don't think they look scary at all though in my photos!

I'm gonna end my post with another version of my first photo. In stepping just a little to the side it caused a little sun flare in my photo. I thought it would make a nice way to end my post with the colorful lights shining down on the pumpkins. After all, they are the stars of my post and this first week of #seasonhunt! 💖

You're very welcome, @deerjay! 😊

Oooh...what a wonderful display of pumpkin galore ! I also enjoy very much looking at the variety that we call in french courge galeuse , scabby pumpkin, but peanut is also very appropriate term to describe it ...😄
Baby Boo is also very cute 😊 I love how many shapes and colors we can find when it is about pumpkins...

Thank you very much @barbara-orenya!! It is always interesting to see the different varieties. It does seem like more "heirloom" varieties have been available the last couple of years. Scabby totally fits as well. I loved seeing the different color variations and some of the pale pink-ish pumpkins are quite pretty. I have to agree that the Baby Boo's are very cute! 😊💕

You are very welcome @luigi-the-gnome and thank you also!! 💕

hi! I love your post a lot: cause I am a fan of variety and biodivercity, ofc.
we dont have here so much sorts of fungi pumpkins, as you!
the 'peanut' one is really the highlight of them all ✌️

Thanks so much @qwerrie!! I am so happy that you love it!! I've seen a lot of variety the last couple of years but, I agree, that Peanut pumpkin was a nice looking pumpkin. I'm looking forward to trying some new recipes with some of them too. 😁

aha! we are not experimenting, just have 2-3 proven recipes that we cling to.

ps. I found pumpkins too - trying to shape my post about it right now. coincidence :)))

and here is a hot mushroom !PIZZA for you 👩‍🍳

That is awesome to hear @qwerrie and I so look forward to your post!! Lol..I do love some mushrooms! 🙂💖

Your pumpkins have the longest stems, Dee.🎃 A lovely bunch you photographed with many shapes and colors. I could eat that pumpkin pie right now. It’s one of my favorite pies.🤗

A beautiful show of pumpkins my friend nicely presented 👍

Thank you very much @kohsamui99!! It was nice to see a lot of different varieties and learning a little along the way. 🙂

Your most welcome @deerjay and hope you have a great Halloween 😱

And congrats to us both we won the first drawn isn't that amazing 😊

Lol..I didn't but you did! Congratulations to you and the other winners though! It was a great week of terrific posts indeed! 💕

Definitely was @deerjay and looking forward to seeing some nice autumn leaves 😊

Oh wow.. There are so many pumpkins from different types and colors. In my state we can see only two types of pumpkins. But USA have so many types of pumpkins especially use for Halloween and thanksgiving. Nice caught @deerjay.

Thank you so much @madushanka!! I think I saw a few more varieties this year than in previous years. I think a lot of them people will be using some for baking with after displaying them. I'm looking forward to trying a couple of new recipes myself. 😊

Fabulous photos of pumpkins Dee, such a wonderful variety. We just don't see such a line up in Australia. I must look into this little contest, it looks like a lot of fun. 🌻

Thank you very much Angie!! It is a lot of fun and I hope you join in!! @barbara-orenya sponsors this wonderful contest and I think everyone has fun and gets so much enjoyment in it!! 💕

I love all the different varieties of pumpkins that are being grown around here in recent years. I love those warty ones, too. I have a green one and a big Cinderella pumpkin on my front porch that were a recent gift from my daughter to make my front steps look a little more festive and seasonal!

Thank you very much Melinda!! Ohh..those Cinderella pumpkins are awesome!! It does seem like more varieties have shown up the last few years. A lot of Heirloom varieties, I do love to see all of the different varieties and learning a little about them. Mind you, I forget a lot but some of it retains..lol. 😊💕

Dear @deerjay, your collection of pumpkins is stunning and the pumpkin pie looks very delicious! I like the seeds but have never heard about pumpkin butter. Is it only good for animals?

You're most welcome! 🙂

Awesome post. I haven't seen so much pumpkin varieties. The warty ones look scary to me. And the ghost pumpkins are anything but scary. As to us over here in the Philippines, Halloween is not celebrated that much. You see it falls on the eve of another day which is observed nationwide here. It is all Saints Day and the following day the All Souls Day. On these three days, from Oct. 31st to November 2nd, most Pilipinos honor the souls of their departed loved ones. This is the time to visit cemeteries and memorial parks, lay wreaths of flowers on graves of departed family members, and have reunions with other family members in the cemeteries. This is a Catholic tradition which has been observed since as far back as I can remember.

Thank you very much @gems.and.cookies!! I was raised Catholic and am familiar with All Saint's Day but I always thought it was the same as All Soul's Day or possibly I forgot. Thanks for letting me know that it is two separate days. I think the way of celebrating those days in the Philippines sounds better. 💖

It's more of a solemn celebration here compared to the festive one of that of Halloween. But I think the same way as you as to what is a better way to celebrate. 😊

I saw this poster in my FB page earlier today and I thought of you and your reply to me. I would like to share this with you in the spirit of our Catholic faith. God bless you always @deerjay.

Awesome! Thank you @gems.and.cookies!! I very much appreciate that! God bless you and your family also!💕

I absolutely love everything about this post! Your thumbnail is fabulous as is every other shot. Each and every shot is carefully selected and edited to perfection. I kid you not.

You carried it out the entire post, showing off different pumpkins until the pie! Oh, even the pie looked delightful, dripping with whipped cream, which was applied with care, not a creaming tendril out of place.

This was such a great post! Good luck in the contest! This shot is my favorite. It is most delightful and artistically beautiful in its simplicity.

Thank you very much Denise!! That is one of my favorite's of the post as well. It was also one of the last photos that I took or should say re-took. I took an inside photo because it had rained and was very windy but the rain stopped and after a while I decided to take another photo outside because I didn't care for the inside shot. I'm so glad I did and was happy with the result. Thanks again Denise and your comment brought a smile to my face!! 🙂💞

I am so thrilled to hear that. I like leaving comments that are appreciated or at least liked! ❤️

Happy Halloween!
