On The Hunt for Letter "Q"....

in Feel Good4 years ago (edited)

This week really proved a challenge for fruits and veggies and even though i was able to find six fruits and veggie only one of these fruits is available in our country Australia and this is the Quince fruit and unfortunately this Quince fruit is not in season at the moment in Australia so in order to participate in this weeks hunt for letter "Q" i had to revert myself to taking a quick course of art and patients and slowly each night i drew one of these fruits and finally completed my art degree course this evening so here we go i hope you like my art work 🙂

The Quandong fruit they say is native to Australia by i myself have never seen this fruit it looks pretty in color been a reddish color with a tinge of yellow and although this fruit can be slightly sour it still has a nice sweetness which makes it quite eatable it is also referred to as a native Peach. They say it makes a great fruit juice and this fruit can also be stewed to make pie filling.

The Quince i remember my mum she use to boil this fruit then we would spread the soft flesh of this fruit onto our custard tart pie giving it a custard and apple taste was really a nice flavor mixed together. I also love eating the Quince fruit raw when in season it has a nice aroma and even though this fruit can be a little sour it has the flavor of a apple and a pear mixed in one.

This Quararibea Cordata Fruit looks like a small baby coconut grown in South America seen a lot in Amazon rainforest once this fruit is cracked open the yellow-orange flesh inside is very sweet , soft and juicy containing about 2 to 5 seeds a bit like a Mangosteen the fruit can be eaten as a raw fruit or made into a fruit juice and they also pour this juice over some desserts a fruit with many nutritious they say.

Queen Anne Cherries they are a sweet, light colored cherry more white-yellow looking cherry with a little light red texture skin were as the cherry we are use to has a deep red color the Queen Anne Cherry also goes by the name of Royal Anne Cherry but to me what ever color they are when cherries are in season i eat them like peanuts just can't stop eating these sweet little fruits and as you know cherries are very healthy for you and are used in many ways like in cherry pies in Queen Anne Dark and Milk Chocolates only to mention a few.

Quenepa fruit is like a small little lime looking fruit same in color as a Lime , light green they say it tastes like a cross between a Lychee and a Lime a little tangy but a sweet flavor and same looking flesh as the Lychee on the inside. Mainly grown in Mexico and Central America and is also know as the Spanish Lime. A great fruit in treating constipation and lowering cholesterol in the body because this fruit is high in fiber and ferulic acid.

Quinoa is a flowering plant mainly grown for it's edible seeds like rice or wheat the plant has similarities only that the seeds grow in many colors like red , white , black and chocolate colors the seeds are rich in protein, dietary fiber and vitamin B the seeds go great with salads and breakfast cereals. Another benefit of this plant the young leaves are very nutritious and can be eaten as a vegetable similar to spinach. This plant is mainly grown in Ecuador , Peru , Colombia , Argentina and Bolivia because they have the right climates for this plant.

You are quite the artist and I think you earned an art degree with these awesome drawing of the Q fruit.

Most of these fruits are not native to here but Quinoa is becoming a food I hear people are eating.

Thank you @redheadpei i think i surprised myself i didn't think i could do it i almost wasn't but decided i couldn't let the team down and went for it 🙂

Really you have all those fruits there i would love to try them but it's a long way to your home 👍

Most welcome@kohsamui99. I’m glad you didn’t let the hunt team down. 👍😀

You haven't disappointed my trust in you, my friend from Down Under.

This time you had more work to do than only going to the shop to take a few photos - this time you had to do a lot of research work and drawing the fruits took certainly quite some time too 😊

The Quinoa is the only one I know, and I know Cherries, of course 😁

Great post, @kohsamui99, now I'm sure that you'll get that crown when this game ends.

I can't talk for Barbara, of course, but your drawings look promising to me 😊

You certainly did thanks @johannpiber 👍

I am a bit worried about X and Z might have to be more drawing , lol 😅

I am so glad that I can take anything to post as long as it starts with the letter of the week, because I don't even know a fruit with X in German, how could I find one in another language ... Google, I know 😁

But these last letters are going to be really hard I believe.

Cheers and !BEER
!invest_vote

Yep i am going to get stuck some where along the line but i will look up fruits and veggies in other languages it might be the way to go 👍

I don't think that will work because the challenge is in English, but on the other hand I'm using the latin / scientific names of the insects and flowers too 😉

Cheers and !BEER

Drawing the fruit all for letter "Q" another interesting post in learning not only the fruits but honing in on your talents to obtain a great end result.

The Quandong fruit is interesting in that when we first moved into our house forty years ago, two little bush trees bearing a close resemblance to this fruit where at the bottom of the garden. Both trees eventually died off, however the fruits were sour and tart, our local nursery identified them as an Australian bush and the fruits were suggested for use in jam making.

Perhaps this is one and the same, other fruit I recognize is the Quince not a favourite but edible.

Amazing way to complete the contest, well done @kohsamu99

Thank you for your kind words @joanstewart unfortunately none of these fruits were to be seen in the supermarkets so i had to use my little talent of drawing , interesting you say that about the Quandong fruit it is a Australia bush tree and grown in Australia but i have never seen this fruit in supermarkets perhaps because it is to sour and tart that it is only used for jam and not pleasant to eat.

Definitely would only use that one in jams, off the bush was a little daunting. Similar to our Natal Plum not something you would just pick and eat for the fun of it. You accomplished the drawings in good detail and that takes more effort than running around stores finding fruits.
