I had to google Karl Pilkington up. He's a real person and quite a character. Here he's constantly dropping lines in his usual style that "comedians would kill for", as Gervais put it in an interview. Pilkington worked initially as a producer on Gervais' and Stephen Merchant's Xfm radio show.
