As I have already mentioned on other occasions, I have traveled to Patagonia for many years, I like fishing and the beautiful landscapes of the Argentine and Chilean South and every time I can I take a trip to those places so distant from my current residence in the city from Buenos Aires.
A few years ago I discovered a beautiful hotel in the Province of La Pampa, it is not in its capital city, not even in the second or third most important city within that province; It is located in a small town with few inhabitants, although it is very rich due to the agricultural and livestock activities that take place in its surroundings.
Macachín is a small but picturesque town belonging to the Atreucó department and has a population of close to 6,000 inhabitants according to the last national census, it is very close to the border with the province of Buenos Aires and about 700 kilometers from our Federal Capital.
In its geographical and commercial center is one of the main symbols of the city, the Basque hotel as it is affectionately called since its real name is quite difficult to pronounce for those of us who are not descendants of Basques: Euzko Alkartasuna is the real name of the hotel.
It is a pride of its inhabitants and the most prominent symbol of the great Basque community that populated the area at the beginning of the 20th century, it is Argentine and Basque heritage and the headquarters of the community's activities, within its facilities there are ball courts, one of the sports preferred by the Basques.
Inside the hotel, there is Basque decoration and despite a great renovation that was carried out in 2011 and 2012, these details have been maintained.
With my wife we usually sleep there on our return trip, it is a very comfortable and modern resting place to be able to continue the next day towards our final destination in the Federal Capital, it has a restaurant and a beautiful outdoor terrace where the local people meet. relax in the afternoons and nights.
Right in front of the hotel is the main square of Macachín and around it the typical conformation of many towns in the interior of the country: the Church, the police station, the municipal offices, and some banks.
We have already decided with my wife that car trips to Patagonia will be less frequent for us, the routes are unfortunately not in good condition (I have already talked about it in another post) and we believe that it is not worth risking our lives for it. Of course, we will continue going but it will be by plane and if our economic possibilities allow us, we will rent a vehicle to travel. In this way, we may not return to the Basque hotel but we will recommend it to everyone who passes through the area, a nice place within all the beauty that can be known while traveling through Patagonia.
Como ya he comentado en otras oportunidades, viajo a la Patagonia desde hace muchos años, me gusta la pesca y los bellos paisajes del Sur Argentino y Chileno y cada vez que puedo hago un viaje por esos lugares tan distantes de mi residencia actual en la ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Desde hace algunos pocos años descubrí un bello hotel en la Provincia de La Pampa, no está en su ciudad capital, ni siquiera en la segunda o en la tercera ciudad en importancia dentro de esa provincia; está ubicado en una pequeña localidad de pocos habitantes aunque muy rica por la actividad agrícola y ganadera que se desarrolla en sus inmediaciones.
Macachín es una pequeña pero pintoresca localidad perteneciente al departamento Atreucó y cuenta con una población cercana a los 6.000 habitantes según el último censo nacional, se encuentra muy cerca del límite con la provincia de Buenos Aires y a unos 700 kilómetros de nuestra Capital Federal.
En su centro geográfico y comercial se encuentra uno de los principales símbolos de la ciudad, el hotel vasco como lo llaman cariñosamente ya que su nombre real es bastante difícil de pronunciar para los que no somos descendientes de vascos: Euzko Alkartasuna es el nombre real del hotel.
Es todo un orgullo de sus habitantes y el símbolo más destacado de la gran comunidad vasca que pobló la zona a principios del siglo XX, es patrimonio argentino y euskaldun y sede central de las actividades de la comunidad, dentro de sus instalaciones hay canchas de pelota, uno de los deportes preferidos por los vascos.
Dentro del hotel hay decoración vasca y pese a una gran refacción que se realizó en los años 2011 y 2012 se han mantenido esos detalles.
Con mi esposa solemos dormir allí en nuestro viaje de regreso, es un muy cómodo y moderno lugar de descanso para poder continuar al día siguiente hacia nuestro destino final en la Capital Federal, cuenta con restaurante y una bella terraza exterior donde la gente del lugar se relaja por las tardes y noches.
Justo frente al hotel se encuentra la plaza principal de Macachín y a su alrededor la típica conformación de muchos pueblos del interior del país: la Iglesia, el destacamento policial, las oficinas de la municipalidad y algunos bancos.
Ya hemos decidido junto a mi esposa que los viajes en automóvil hacia la Patagonia serán menos frecuentes para nosotros, las rutas lamentablemente no están en buenas condiciones (ya he hablado de ello en otra publicación) y creemos que no vale la pena arriesgar la vida por ello. Por supuesto que continuaremos yendo pero será en avión y si nuestras posibilidades económicas nos lo permiten alquilaremos un vehículo para recorrer. De esta manera quizás no volvamos al hotel vasco pero se lo recomendaremos a todo el que pase por la zona, un simpático lugar dentro de todo lo bello que se puede conocer viajando por la Patagonia.
