A few years ago I went on a fishing trip to Chilean Patagonia with some friends, it was not my first time in Chile, I had made some other trips for work some time ago but always further north, to Santiago. I met Viña del Mar by chance on a weekend where work pressure eased. As we say here regarding Argentina, God is everywhere in Chile, but he attends in Santiago.
Returning to the subject of the fishing trip, my friends had more experience regarding those remote places within the sister country and we made a huge purchase of all the necessary groceries in the city of Comodoro Rivadavia, in a well-known hypermarket in Argentina; Going through the border was not a problem, the policeman did not see the arsenal of groceries or he was distracted.
Now, I did not understand why we were carrying so many things from here but when we reached our destination in Puerto Cisnes I realized immediately, it was a small city, so small that there are only a few fairly poorly supplied general stores, a single station of fuels that also had scheduled and not always the necessary gasoline that our truck made works and not much else.
The white pearl of the place was the hostel where we stayed, the owner, who's name unfortunately I do not remember at the moment, was the woman with the mind more focused on tourism and services that I met during our stay. She is modern, to the point of having one of the few postnets in the place, an essential element to charge with credit and debit cards. I didn't see any other place that accepted them.
The guide we hired for two days complied, being optimistic, with 50% of our needs since on the second day he arrived 2 hours late without notifying us and then we had to wait for his partner another endless additional hour.
The sense of tourism and the service to tourists has just begun to manifest itself in that beautiful place. Chile is a country that advances fast and does things well, I have no doubt that soon all this will be reversed.
I have not returned to those places, I hope to be able to return soon, however, I always remember the Hostal Lafquen Antu fondly, I hope that it has been able to continue providing such excellent service and that it has grown and succeeded in entrepreneurship, all Puerto Cisnes should improve a lot but it has someone to take an example from.
Algunos pocos años atrás realicé junto a algunos amigos, un viaje de pesca por la Patagonia chilena, no era mi primera vez en Chile, había realizado algunos otros viajes por trabajo tiempo atrás aunque siempre más al norte, a Santiago. Conocí Viña del Mar un poco de casualidad en un fin de semana donde se alivió la presión laboral. Tal como decimos aquí respecto a la Argentina, Dios está en todas partes en Chile, pero atiende en Santiago.
Volviendo al tema del viaje de pesca, mis amigos tenían una mayor experiencia respecto de esos lugares remotos dentro del país hermano y realizamos una compra enorme de todos los comestibles necesarios en la ciudad de Comodoro Rivadavia, en un hipermercado muy conocido de la Argentina; pasarlo por la frontera no fue problema, el carabinero no vio el arsenal de comestibles o se hizo el distraído.
Ahora bien, yo no entendía por qué llevábamos tantas cosas de aquí pero al llegar a nuestro destino en Puerto Cisnes me di cuenta inmediatamente, era una pequeña ciudad, tan pequeña que solo hay algunos pocos almacenes de ramos generales bastante poco provistos, una sola estación de combustibles que además tenía horarios y no siempre la necesaria nafta que hacía funciona nuestra camioneta y no mucho más.
La perla blanca del lugar era el hostal donde nos alojamos, la dueña, cuyo nombre lamentablemente no recuerdo en estos momentos, era la mujer con la mente más enfocada en el turismo y los servicios que conocí en nuestra estadía. Moderna, al punto de poseer uno de los escasos postnet del lugar, elemento indispensable para cobrar con tarjetas de crédito y débito. No vi ningún otro lugar que las aceptara.
El guía que contratamos por dos días cumplió, siendo optimistas, con el 50% de nuestras necesidades ya que en la segunda jornada llegó 2 horas tarde sin avisarnos y luego tuvimos que esperar a su compañero otra interminable hora adicional.
El sentido del turismo y el servicio a los turistas recién comienza a manifestarse en ese hermosísimo lugar, Chile es un país que avanza rápido y hace bien las cosas, no tengo dudas que pronto todo esto se revertirá.
No he vuelto por esos parajes, espero poder volver pronto, sin embargo siempre recuerdo con cariño al Hostal Lafquen Antu, espero que haya podido continuar brindando tan excelente servicio y que haya crecido y triunfado en el emprendimiento, todo Puerto Cisnes deberá mejorar muchísimo pero tiene alguien de quien tomar ejemplo.
