UX Best Practices

in DBuzz3 years ago (edited)

Looking for some UX best practice documentation relevant to 2021 or UX case studies. Links in comments would be appreciated.

UX = User experience

  • intuitive
  • designed rationally
  • flows
  • easy to use

These aren't 'official' UX categories, just my take on it.

The other end of it is whether there are any studies out on how tired people are seeing the same Bootstrap CSS design over and over on most sites. We know that users are sick of things like Zoom. I'm guessing there is user fatigue when it comes to Bootstrap. There is nothing inspiring about the same type of thing everywhere.

I know there's no shortage of UX specialists. I'm looking for academic work or good quality industry recommendations, not an expert to go over a product and provide feedback. Just the docs.

Welcome to https://d.buzz 😀

I don't have resources for this yet, but I do know that our D.Buzz front-end will likely be replaced to look more like https://blog.d.buzz

One of our Devs got really good at front-end / UI development.

P.S. Is this for #AltTYes?

I sent you a DM earlier. It's part of testing.

Good for you for seeking out this information, UX/UI is so important and fairly neglected by many dApps. (I redesigned the entire UI for Hive.Engage (~100 tweaks) but they didn't see the value in it :D)

Anyway, no specific resources jump to mind... this video/blog is the closest I can think of: https://thefutur.com/video/simple-tips-to-improve-your-design but anything that covers the principles of design would likely be helpful.

It gets a little murkier when you add in mobile-first design, because interacting with a small touch screen is very different than the UI for a mouse/keyboard/desktop, but the principles of design pretty much always apply, and applying them well leads to a significantly improved user-experience.

I also wrote an article on 'breathability' that may be an interesting read, but it's more of a deep dive on one (extremely vital) principle of design: 'white space' - https://soar.evancarmichael.com/epic-content/

Apologies if this isn't exactly the type of docs you were looking for, but I saw very few comments here so I figured I'd offer whatever I could.

Wishing you a great day! 🙏

@brutalisti this sounds like it's up your alley :)

I understand that it's been 3 months but in case you are still searching you could give Google's Material Design a peak ... But for the most part remixing bootstrap themes to look different works fine!
