Hello to all dear friends and welcome back to my blog. Often the visual arts and in particular painting and photography are excellent testimonials that remain as historical documents for posterity. For example, we detect it with particular photographic services that document us events that occurred in a popular uprising or in an environmental disaster.

Also with regard to the detection of geographical areas or buildings to be disposed of, the use of images is very useful.
In my case I made a small contribution to the historical documentation of an archaeological area present in the most important square of my city.

I portrayed a 19th-century house that insisted on the area of the ancient Roman theater, which was torn down last year.

Now my watercolor has become part of the collection of the archaeological superintendent at the excavations of the Roman theater.

I had done this watercolor only for the pleasure of portraying this singular and antique pink house, I liked the contrast with the ocher yellow color of the ruined wall.

I had great pleasure in portraying the flower pots that the ninety year old lady, owner of the property, had placed on the ledge of the wall for years.

Today there is nothing more of all this, the lady sold the real estate.

I leave you another testimony of the beauty of the archaeological site facing the Roman theater of the 1st century BC.

A 4000-seat theater that is currently being restored and I hope that next year it will be operational for a beautiful tragedy by Aeschylus.

Prima e dopo

Ciao a tutti cari amici e bentornati sul mio blog.

Spesso le arti visive ed in particolare la pittura e la fotografia sono delle ottime testimonianze che restano come documenti storici ai posteri.

Ad esempio lo rileviamo con particolari servizi fotografici che ci documentano fatti accaduti in una sommossa popolare o in un disastro ambientale. Anche per quanto riguarda il rilevamento delle zone geografiche o di edilizia da dismettere, l'uso di immagini è quantomai utile. Nel mio caso ho dato un piccolo contributo alla documentazione storica di un'area archeologica presente nella piazza più importante della mia città.

Ho ritratto una casa del 19° secolo che insisteva nell'area dell'antico teatro romano, che è stata abbattuta lo scorso anno. Ora il mio acquarello è entrato a far parte della collezione del sovrintendente archeologico agli scavi del teatro romano.

Avevo eseguito questo acquarello solo per il piacere di ritrarre questa casetta singolare e dal colore rosa antico, mi piaceva il contrasto con il colore giallo ocra del muro rovinato. Ho provato molto piacere a ritrarre i vasi fioriti che la vecchia signora novantenne, proprietaria dell'immobile, aveva posto da anni sul cornicione del muro.

Oggi non c'è più nulla di tutto questo, la signora ha venduto il bene immobile. Vi lascio un'altra testimonianza della bellezza del sito archeologico prospiciente al teatro romano del 1° secolo a. C.
Un teatro da 4000 posti che ad oggi stanno ripristinando e spero che l'anno prossimo sia operativo per una bella tragedia di Eschilo.
