I didn't realize there was a circle tour of each lake, I learned something new today! I've only been to Minnesota once, so I don't know a whole lot about the state to be honest. I guess all great rivers have the headwaters somewhere, why not Minnesota for the mighty Mississippi?

I enjoyed the Indigo Girls back in the 90's but since then have kind of forgotten about them. Of course that was the peak of their popularity! Nice song and finding a reference to Minnesota in there as well!

Soundgarden... What a legendary band who's front man died far too young. So many of those Seattle singers have ended their lives far too early, maybe it's the gray weather that leads to depression? Who knows? But they have that great reference to Minnesota, or more to the point feeling like Minnesota. I guess it wasn't their favorite state!

I was never a prince fan either, but it would have been cool to see him live. Especially since he's gone now. Another artist dying from a drug overdose, it's sad.

Awesome selections @bozz !

Thank you! Indigo Girls are really something special for me. There is just a lot of depth to them and while many people might not like that folksy style, it really works for me. It's sad all the talent we have lost far too soon through the years.

There is gold in the black sand on Lake Superior. Bring a sluice next time you go. It comes from a 2.5 Billion year old volcanic eruption up in Marathon Ontario. We get a few grams of gold every summer …

The volcanic rocks near Marathon, Ontario, were formed over 2.5 billion years ago. These are ancient, dormant volcanic structures found on the Canadian Shield near Lake Superior, not recent eruptions

Very cool!

Tons of black sand on the beaches 1/2 hour North of the Sault …

We are panning up near Pancake Bay (Ontario) and White Fish Point (Michigan) all summer

Yeah, I've been to Whitefish point many times. It's a cool place. Good fish there too in Paradise.

My favorite lake! I did the Circle Tour a few years back and have spent quite a bit of time in MN... being a neighboring state it's easy for me to travel to. Wisconsin has plenty of Lakes, but Minnesota has a crazy amount of water!

It's definitely the most photogenic Great Lake in my opinion. There is just something really special about it no matter what shore you are on. I'm looking forward to exploring the Apostle Islands area this summer.

One of my favorite places! I've kayaked atound most of them and camped on a couple. I love Bayfield and that whole area.

:)

I have returned to Hive after being absent almost for one year, so I am not familiar with #threetunetuesday but, I must admit, songs you shared are marvels. It is nice to read about their singers, as well, especially reading about prince.

Thank you! It was my pleasure to share them!

Loved them.

It was such a joy to read your post, filled with a playful rivalry between Minnesota and Michigan and a deep passion for music! From your childhood memories of the Lake Superior Circle Tour to the humble beginnings of the Mississippi River, I felt like I was looking at a travel map right along with you.

The stories behind your three song choices are truly special. I admire your sincere appreciation for Indigo Girls' harmonies and your honest reflections on Soundgarden and Prince. Your goal to explore Prince’s discography on Spotify this week sounds like a wonderful journey in itself. Enjoy the legendary tunes! 😊🎧

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed them!

Duluth is wonderful. We’ve more than once thought of moving there once my wife retires.

I was so young before I don't really remember anything about it. I'm looking forward to rediscovering it.

My wife goes to Minneapolis on business regularly... I have never been to Minnesota.
