These hot sunny days already smell of summer and this weekend I decided to take the opportunity to go for a walk. I went to Gabicce, a small town in the province of Pesaro-Urbino (Italy), a quiet place just a couple of hours away from where I live.
In particular, some friends had told me about a beautiful path that connected the beach (Gabicce Mare) to the highest mountainous part of the city (Gabicce Monte). This path is called "Sentiero del Coppo" and it’s a rather steep and uphill path, lasting about an hour. This particular name is due to the fact that, just halfway through, it is possible to find a source of water that is said to have beneficial and curative properties. We are talking about a ferruginous water source that the local people have always appreciated, to the point of building the path that can reach this water source both from the sea and from the land. Legend has it that the Sentiero del Coppo was also used by smugglers and pirates for the transport of substances by sea and by land!
Unfortunately, this path can be a bit dangerous due to the level of steepness and the fact that there are no holds to orient oneself, but simply steps sketched with worn wood. For this reason, I would not recommend it to children or people with walking difficulties.
The route is totally immersed in nature and this makes it particularly pleasant to walk, despite the climb. Furthermore, the view of the sea on the horizon is decidedly poetic and incredible. After about an hour of walking, the landscape is fabulous: the powerful roar of the waves on the rocks leaves you speechless and makes you forget the fatigue!

Ciao a tutti e bentornati sul mio blog!
Questi caldi giorni di sole profumano già di estate e nel weekend ho deciso di approfittarne per fare una gita. Mi sono recata a Gabicce, un piccolo comune nella provincia di Pesaro e Urbino, un luogo tranquillo a solo un paio d’ore di distanza da dove abito.
In maniera particolare, alcuni amici mi avevano parlato di un percorso bellissimo che collegava la spiaggia (Gabicce Mare) alla parte montuosa più alta della città (Gabicce Monte). Questo sentiero viene chiamato “Sentiero del Coppo” e si tratta di un percorso piuttosto ripido e in salita, dalla durata di circa un’ora. Questo nome particolare è dovuto al fatto che, proprio a metà percorso, è possibile trovare una fonte d’acqua che si dice avere delle proprietà benefiche e curative. Stiamo parlando di una fonte d’acqua ferruginosa che gli abitanti del luogo hanno da sempre apprezzato, a tal punto da costruire il percorso in grado di raggiungere questa fonte d’acqua sia a partire da mare che a partire dalla terra ferma. La leggenda racconta che il Sentiero del Coppo fosse anche utilizzato dai contrabbandieri e dai pirati per il trasporto di sostanze via mare e via terra!
Purtroppo, questo sentiero può risultare un po’ pericoloso a causa del livello di ripidità e del fatto che non vi sono appigli per orientarsi, ma semplicemente degli scalini abbozzati con del legno consumato. Per questo motivo, non mi sentirei di consigliarlo né a bambini né a persone con difficoltà motorie.
Il percorso è totalmente immerso nella natura e questo lo rende particolarmente gradevole da percorrere, nonostante la salita. Inoltre, la visione del mare all’orizzonte è decisamente poetica e incredibile. Dopo circa un’ora di cammino, il paesaggio è favoloso: lo scrosciare potente delle onde sugli scogli lascia a bocca aperta e fa dimenticare la fatica!
