In reality, I have encountered deer in the woods at close range more than once. I don't know which of us was more frightened. In the morning mist, in winter, such an encounter is a particularly mystical experience.
It always reminds me of the mythological wonder deer. Nimrod's two sons, Hunor and Magor, followed such a beautiful animal (or rather a spirit being in the shape of an animal) who led them to their new home. It is an interesting fact that the antlered creature of Hungarian mythology is a female, maternal quality. We called her "Boga" or "Bogasszony", the latter is almost "Boldogasszony", that means "Happy Lady" which is a very poor mirror translation.
Today with my watercolor, I evoked this mythical deer.

I had one such encounter about 200m. from home.
it was early morning and silence reigned everywhere.
then I heard these twigs crack and I saw her at very close range. (Fallow Deer)
absolute magic. this encounter will always be with me.
So great of an artist to come up with this beautiful piece of art. I love the details and the fierce eyes of the deer.
