Hi Hive!
It's Monday, and my last post was Friday morning. A few days without news, that's why.
Friday, my father came to pick me up in Normandy. We loaded the bags and hit the road together, headed to Corrèze. Several hours of driving to cross France. I was tired, but not necessarily in a bad way, just that end-of-week fatigue that builds up.
That said, really happy to go, genuinely.
We don't often make the drive together, my father and I. Life just makes those occasions rare. Normal, everyone has their own life. We're all in the same boat. And then Corrèze, I hadn't set foot there in 13 years.
We talked about it in the car. Time seems to slip through our fingers. I had actually read a book about that. The secret to time passing less quickly is to regularly do new activities, new trips.
I'm thinking about it this morning, because it's barely been 3 days since we left Normandy and it feels like 2 weeks.

I have some of my roots there, in Corrèze. So it's a place that holds a special spot. On top of being a truly beautiful place, it's a reminder of where we come from. The village in question is, on top of that, steeped in history.

And since the younger generations don't want to settle there, everything has kind of stayed frozen in time.
It was a real break from everyday life. When you're caught in the flow of life, it's the kind of weekend you don't plan often enough and you should.
We met up with family. Between the 3-hour meals, the conversations, waking up in the countryside, that slower rhythm that does you good.
And on Saturday, we went to buy ducks. I won't say more for now, but there's a project behind all that, I'll talk about it soon.
This morning I'm back. The week starts again. Let's go.

Salut Hive !

A holiday that feels longer (in a good way) is always a good one.
Can't wait to read about the ducks. We used to have indian runner ducks which were great fun. Will you use them for meat or eggs ?
We're going to use the ducks for meat. It's my grandfather's tradition that I'd like to revive. It goes against my convictions. But I feel like I need to do it 👍👍
I think if it's connected in that way it's better - you give them a happy life, and there's less waste like there would be blindly getting meat from the supermarket. It's unacceptable to get, say, foie gras, but raising your own meat and utilising every part of the bird is another story entirely.
