Minimum tolerated temperature: –5 °C

In colder areas it requires sheltered exposures.
Balsamic period: July, when the peduncles (fruit stems) reach the maximum concentration of active

The dried peduncles contain:
Potassium salts – responsible for the diuretic action.
Mucilage – soothing and protective of the mucous membranes.
Tannins – astringent and anti-inflammatory.

Phytotherapeutic properties
Diuretic: increases diuresis by promoting the elimination of liquids and metabolites.
Antieuricemic: useful in controlling uric acid levels and preventing gouty attacks.
Confirmed activity: food (fruits), rich in water, vitamins and antioxidants.

The high potassium content stimulates renal filtration, while tannins and mucilage exert a soothing action on the urinary tract, making the peduncles particularly useful in cases of cystitis, water retention and hyperuricemia.

Low toxicity, but excessive use may cause gastrointestinal disorders.
Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Avoid taking supplements without medical advice, especially in case of diuretic therapy or renal failure.

Infusion
Dose: 3 g of dried peduncles per 100 ml of water.
Indication: cystitis and mild water retention.
Method: pour boiling water, cover, leave to infuse for 10 minutes, filter and take 2–3 times a day.

Officinal tincture
Preparation: 10 g of chopped dried peduncles in 100 ml of 62° hydroalcoholic solution, macerated for 21 days.
Conservation: 3 years.
Dosage: 30 drops per day for anti-eurycemic action.

Medicated wine
Preparation: 30 g of peduncles + 25 g of mannitol in 1 L of enolith (900 ml white wine + 100 ml 96° alcohol), maceration 15 days.
Storage: 6 months.
Dosage: 100 ml per day for diuretic and purifying functions.

Preparations obtained from Prunus cerasus (wild cherry) show superior efficacy thanks to the greater concentration of tannins and mineral salts in the peduncles. They are therefore preferable in professional formulations.

Temperatura minima tollerata: –5 °C

I peduncoli essiccati contengono:
Sali di potassio – responsabili dell’azione diuretica.
Mucillagini – lenitive e protettive delle mucose.
Tannini – astringenti e antinfiammatori.

Controindicato in gravidanza e allattamento.
Evitare l’assunzione di integratori senza consulto medico, soprattutto in caso di terapia diuretica o insufficienza renale.

Infuso
Indicazione: cistite e lieve ritenzione idrica.
Modalità: versare acqua bollente, coprire, lasciare in infusione 10 minuti, filtrare e assumere 2–3 volte al giorno.

Tintura officinale
Preparazione: 10 g di peduncoli essiccati sminuzzati in 100 ml di soluzione idroalcolica a 62°, macerati 21 giorni.
Conservazione: 3 anni.
