"Fall Colors" - A Pastel and Gouache Painting

Painting Process:

 
Inspired by a photo on Pixabay I started with a super quick and sparse pencil sketch, followed by an underpainting with very watery gouache. I proceeded to flesh out the rough shapes and colors of the underpainting with applications of increasingly more concentrated gouache.

The actual painting was done with Toison d'Or soft pastel sticks from Koh-I-Noor. As pastels go, these sticks are on the softer side and very pigment-rich. I like Koh-I-Noor. a lot; this traditional Czech company makes professional art supplies that represent very good value for money.

 
Inspiriert von einem Foto auf Pixabay begann ich mit einer superschnellen und spärlichen Bleistiftskizze, gefolgt von einer Untermalung mit sehr wässriger Gouache. Anschließend habe ich die groben Formen und Farben der Untermalung mit zunehmend konzentrierterer Gouache weiter ausgearbeitet.

Das eigentliche Gemälde wurde mit  Toison d'Or Softpastellstiften von  Koh-I-Noor gemalt. Diese Stifte sind für Pastellfarben eher weich und sehr pigmentreich. Ich mag  Koh-I-Noor sehr; diese tschechische Traditionsfirma stellt professionellen Künstlerbedarf mit einem ausgezeichneten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis her.
