Today was the day we were going to the Gold Mine Trail! It was sunny and fabulous! Jan and her friend Tamara were coming with us. It was a great morning for a hike!
@actifit-lamb was excited as she was coming along with Walter, Winchester, Walden, Wellington and Windsor! The were ready and had already hopped into the backpack long before I took it out to the car.
And weβre off! @silvertop was leading the way as we headed up into the mountains π
There is always something to see on the Gold Mine Trail!
Our destination today was hike the steep uphill portion of the trail to the cabin built in 1891. This was @actifit-lambβs and gangβs first stop to get out and frolic a bit in the meadow.

After a little time spent at the cabin, we headed on around the trail and worked our way to Cocoa Crossing. The first picture of this post is one of several breathtaking vistas to be found on this trail. It also happens to be the place where some of @actifit-lambβs first Gold Mine Trail pics were taken, but the tree stump she posed on some 3 years ago is weathered away and offers no resting point for the lambs.
Cocoa Crossing was the designated place for a lunch stop and a cool respite from the August sunshine! βοΈ Of course, the lambs were eager to get out and explore! You can see everybody seated around the fire pit.
Once again, we set off to take the downhill trails back to the beginning.

It was a lovely hike with good friends! We were all tired and hot π₯΅ afterwards!
Once home, I hit the shower first and then made mocha frappes for @silvertop and myself.
After a while, we went outdoors and just heading up the road, began picking blackberries! Yum!!
This has been a stellar year for these babies! So plump and sweet! Iβm going to freeze most of these. I plan to go for another pass tomorrow. Thereβs so many in every stage of ripening that harvest season should last through the end of August and even into September! πππ

@actifit-lamb has a post to write, but today, she got her hooves all stained with blackberries! She has to get them cleaned up and then I have to help her, so her post will be delayed unfortunately. But, stay tuned! The hike was lovely indeed, but we were all tired when we got done! This year's berries seem so huge and they are so sweet and juicy!
