Can You Say..........My Actifit Report Card: May 22 2023

in Actifit11 months ago (edited)

Can you say……unsettled?!

That is our weather for sure! Just 2.5 weeks ago, we were having a fire in the wood stove each night. Then, we got hit with an unprecedented heatwave in May taking us into 90+ degree days and lots of humidity. We had a rather nice weekend, typically what it should be, and then this morning, we woke up to much cooler temperatures and rain! Tomorrow’s about the same as today. We need the rain for sure, but the rest of it is just crazy! I’m wondering what the summer holds for us.

I spent my morning roasting coffee for a customer. I have a second order slated for roasting next weekend. I suspect it’s about time also, for an order from the gal on the east coast soon. Time will tell.

Here’s some eye candy for you!

@silvertop being nosy at the newest home site on our road.

We’re hiking a little later than usual to accommodate Jan’s commitments today. I’m hoping I will have enough time to bake a blackberry pie afterwards. The blackberries are some from last summer that I froze. Should be pretty tasty!

That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and enjoy your day wherever you are! Please continue to pray for 🇺🇦

Don't forget to show us the pie! 🤤

I did not, unfortunately, get it made. I'm gonna try for tomorrow. If I get it baked, I will take a pic just for you! Take care my friend!

I will say, "Hawaiian LUAU TIME!"

Sounds like a plan!😎👍

It is also hot in here, but unlike a week ago backwards. We are having rains nowadays, but I can still feel some warm. Better than it was a the past week.

Good! Sounds like you got some relief!

never knew coffee was roasted, is that the tree you take cocoa? i also heard the weather there is very serious especially during winter, that true?

Hi @fredaig! I purchase green coffee beans. They are called coffee cherries when they are on the coffee plant. When ripe, they are harvested and dried to remove the fruit covering the coffee beans. This can be done in the sun outdoors. Then they are bagged and shipped to countries. The beans at that point look green, hence the name. I have a fluid bed roaster that blows hot air into a chamber where the beans are. As they heat, they start to change color until the finish in about 13+ minutes, to the dark brown coffee. Then I grind as I need and make espresso. It's lovely!

The tree is just an old growth tree stump, left over from logging days gone by.

As for our winters; I've seen it rain enough to cause dangerous floods and I've seen snowfall of 3+feet! Last Christmas, we had a snow storm that dumped around 18" and then within 24 hours, it began to sleet on top of that! Very treacherous and dangerous. Trees broke, the power was down for a couple of days and you just didn't go out!

Some summers, we've seen 108 degrees and then sometimes in June, you would think it's winter as it rains, and rains and rains. It is very diverse with the weather.

I hope this answers your questions; sorry about writing a book, lol! Take care!

Learnt something new today about the coffee thou its so amazing how you prepare it. never knew coffee is planted which means it has a seed.

How do you survive over with such serious seasons, its very excess, So what seasons over there do you enjoy while carrying out your normal activities?

I love autumn! The humidity goes away, the mosquitos go away and there is a crispness to the air. The smell of wood smoke from wood stoves and fire places linger in the air and it's just lovely.

I don't mind spring too much as new growth is always exciting and I love to see the blossoms emerge from their long winter nap.

Summer can be a bit challenging for me if it's super hot and/or humid. It's probably the hardest for me to endure.

Winter-you don't work up much of a sweat hiking and snowshoeing is loads of fun. If the temps get below 20 degrees F, then I think twice about going out. I am fortunate to have a 4WD vehicle with studded snow tires, which helps me get to work.

I like all four season, but I'm sure from this, you can tell my favorite! Thank you for inquiring and have a lovely day! !LADY

From the looks of things i think autumn is your favorite, that is also my favorite kind of season especially the smell of woods while drinking some hot coffee, hmmm wish i can explore your seasons there all sounds lovely and tempting. Thank you for thanking me ☺️

Maybe someday, you will get to. Enjoy your coffee!😎👍

The last photo is so nice, sis!
Your house must smell so good. Does roasting coffee beans smell as good as brewing coffee?
!LADY😍🌺

Thanks sis! As for roasting coffee.......let me put it this way......I have been known to go outside and stand under the exhaust vents and inhale deeply! Yes, it smells SOOOOOOOO good! If I could bottle the smoke, I would! There is nothing like it!🤗😘💕🌸
