All Hail the Dog Days of Summer!

in Actifit29 days ago

This week’s 10k adventure kept reminding me that we are in the dog days of summer and I should live in the moment to enjoy it. Up north, we enjoy the winters just fine because you would be in annual misery if you don’t. That being the case, we drink in the nice weather of summer that much more voraciously.

The day started out much less colourfully as I started out at the crack of ass on my main mission of visiting 70+ businesses and pickup spots with the weekly local news. Not prestigious work but definitely social and fulfilling.

As I began my journey, I looked skyward and there seemed to be a promise that I might get a little wet. I was actually hoping for a bit of rain as the garden could use some fresh natural water.

Speaking of the Pickleman Family Garden, I have woefully under reported my progress bit the contrast of cool & damp and hot and dry in waves seems to be working well so far this growing season.

I really must make the time for a #hivegarden post in the next short while.

Back to the task at hand. I popped out to see Mater eternally guarding his field in the country. I still don’t know if it is wheat or barley in the field behind him but he seemed content as ever.

On the way back to town, I stopped to snap a shot of a carpentry client’s office. They are out installing new windows and doors across the region and I like to have a picture of their showroom for all seasons So this is summer.

Back to the reminders we are enjoying the dog days. These walkers are part of a local company who does quite well collecting the neighbourhood dogs and walking them daily in a pack. Probably good for 10k steps for them and maybe a potential job for me when I decide to settle down a little!

Back downtown, it is a little peaceful in town square with not too much going on but lounging and enjoying the sun that broke through the clouds.

Once again, I finished that chapter of the day atop the steps of city hall looking north. Nice day to be downtown but my thoughts are of the week I have booked 4 hours into that northern horizon at a cottage with family.

After a brewing session, meeting with an old friend from out of town, and another 11k steps, it was time to relax in the back yard with a beer and a colourful evening sky.

I checked and I am down to #205 on the list of global @actifit users! With any luck, I will reach my goal of placing in that top 200 before summers end!

Here’s to the dog days of summer!!

Well, it is no 12395 on the south coast of the UK but it will do! :)

With your consistency, I think you will get there. Good luck 🤞

Looking at folks regularly putting in 10k per day, I don't feel too concistent! Still, it is a marathon and I am almost there.

You will make it. Keep going 👍👍👍
