You brought on a great journey this week man, sounds a lot like my own youth, hearing the tunes that my four older sisters (well three of them anyway!) and two brothers. It was definitely what influenced my taste in music. Wish you were here is genius, as is the album, only 5 tracks but man are they good, Shine on you crazy diamond in memory of Syd is very very special, imagine a 13 minute track getting released today! Just wouldn't happen, you do well to get to 3 minutes... Love a long song that builds... No Abba influence in my house growing up, so not a big fan of their really popular tracks, but Chiquitita was one of their better ones, and sure anything by Simon or Garfunkel will get the lend of my ear and sure Stairway to Heaven talks for itself and I know what you mean about Guitar shops, they bring it in on Wayne's World if I remember correctly..

Thanks ablaze. I'm still trying to work on my format for Three Tune Tuesday. I'm enjoying it. I really meant what I said. I can't imagine a world without these songs in it. It must be so cool to be able to write a song that becomes the fabric of so many people's lives.

Ya I know what you mean, there are so many songs that you just couldn't imagine not being there, they can almost define certain periods of your life. Can you imagine being a lead singer and looking out on a massive field with 80,000 singing your song back to you, it must be up there with the best feelings one can get.

Sometimes it is best to leave certain things to the professional

Nobody is born professional XP

Ergh love/hate relationship with Stairway to Heaven. Amazingly put together song, but listening to it causes me physical pain and moreso after having to take my younger sister through the children's section in a major cemetery looking for her best friend and there was a beautiful sculpture in the middle of it and guess what it was called x_x

Simon and Garfunkel and Pink Floyd are both good picks. As album cover art I think Dark Side of the Moon is still pretty hard to beat XD

Abba did get some play while growing up mostly at my aunty's place (she still loves Abba to this day XD), my most recent brush with it in excess was pre-kids (so still a while back, damn I'm old x_x) when J's mum was inviting us to go see this musical called Dancing Queen with her and J's sister. She hadn't been expecting us to want to come as while she knew we liked plays and musicals, she also knew we weren't huge on Abba (unlike her and her daughter XD) and was thus somewhat astonished when J enthusiastically agreed to go along and I was like yeh okay whatever I'm easy.

Turned out J had hyperfixated on the word "Queen" and somehow gotten into his head that we were going to a Queen musical.

Sorry for the delay. Life is hectic, as always.

Pink Floyd was always competing for the silence with Abba in my house. They are both the soundtrack to my childhood. I still listen and feel the nostalgia,

The Darkside of the moon was a great cover and I remember one year my mother created it as a patchwork quilt for my brother. I think he took it with him when he moved to the US.

Funny about J thinking he was going to Queen. I hope he wasn't too disappointed.

Manage the stuff you can control and don't apologise for the stuff you can't. Prioties and all.

He wasn't disappointed, just initially confused, and I was absolutely merciless about it during and afterwards especially when he explained his thought process (which earned even more merciless teasing). We had a great time XD

Three great tunes this week @ammonite . Love wish you were here. Such a great song. Stairway to heaven then with that epic solo and then the sound of silence. I have a 2 year old boy that lives ABBA. It's hilarious. I blame the nanny

Jaysus! Sorry, this comment slipped through the cracks and I am only getting to a reply now. It is so interesting how these songs were part of so many people's lives.
I have a friend who loves Abba and will go on whole evenings of binge-watching their videos. The nostalgia brings him to tears. And he's a grown man.

Haha, I better get the little fella onto Thin Lizzy quick.
