Hi Everyone
For this first round of the first week of the HIVE music festival I thought it would be fun to play around
with a classic Backstreet Boys song.
The song is " I Want It That Way" however when I play this song I throw in a chorus from "As Long As You Love Me" which is another Backstreet Boys classic tune.
I figure for this first round of the Hive music festival playing familiar songs that have a lot of nostalgia attached to them is a good idea.
If I ever hear these songs on the radio I find myself singing along and that's what I am hoping will happen here. I hope some of these lyrics are familiar enough that they will inspire some of you to sing along with me.

You can't imagine the feeling I have when I have seen you and the rest of the artists shining in such a powerful way that you have brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful acoustic interpretation of one of the iconic songs of this boy band that revolutionised the music scene for a while. Bravo maestro, you have done very well.

If you didn't start the HIVE music festival I don't think I would have spent this afternoon learning this song ,so big thanks to you for the inspiration to learn this song and record it today.

I remember when I was in high school a friend of mine listened a lot to this group, they were the sensation of that time, everyone was chanting their songs and one of those songs was this one that you have brought today to the festival!

Aw thanks so much for the very sweet comment. I always feel very humble when people say nice things about my voice and guitar playing. I feel I am always learning and trying to improve ,hearing such sweet words is always so humbling to me :).
Haha wow! You always surprise me - I thought you were devoted to the Traditional Irish tunes only but that was only an assumption as you bring us covers like this and "Gangster's Paradise"... Definitely helps me remember that many many songs can be re-interpreted to sound great with the bare bones of one guitar and voice! In fact it's a nice game to play with songs that have a lot of production, to play them on one guitar and see if they still sound strong!

I love singing traditional Scottish and Irish folk songs , that's probably what I am best at but I do very much enjoy taking pop songs down to their bare bones as you put it.
Did you see the one I posted a couple days ago? I heard an old timer sing it at an open mic event last Sunday ,it got stuck in my head so I took a shot at it for this weeks open mic. Its "Only You" by the UK pop group Yazoo ,although it was written by Vince Clarke while he was still in Depeche Mode.
