Today is Tuesday, the day of #ttt or #threetunetuesday to share some music on Hive, discover new rhythms and songs and listen to some oldies. After the days we spent in Bogota, we are back home to our routine but with the nest empty, and my son is already settled in Chicago.
Yesterday, he sent me a picture of the city that you see above. It was the first time he had the chance to go downtown. So this morning, seeing the picture, I thought about sharing some tunes from some Chicago rock bands.
But before we get into the tunes, let me give a little background for those of you who are not familiar with #threetunetuesday. In the words of @ablaze, who started the initiative

And without further ado, let's go with the tunes.
Tune 1 - Chicago - Saturday in the Park
The first band is named after the city of Chicago. When they came out in the late 60s, their name was Chicago Transit Authority, as was the title of their first album. But they had some legal issues with the city's transit authority CTA because of the name, and they ended shortened it.
In the early eighties, I used to listen to them a lot since I loved Hard to Say I'm Sorry, but the song I have chosen for the #ttt is a song from the 70s from their fifth album, released in 1972 that I think is one of those songs that makes you feel happy when you listen to it, Saturday in the Park.
The band is still active today.
Tune 2 - Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger
The next band, Survivor, emerged in the city of Chicago in the late 70s, but their stardom came in the early 80s when their song Eye of the Tiger was a smash hit in the movie Rocky III.
Tune 3 - The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
To close, a song by the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins that came out of Chicago in the late 80s.
My favorite song of theirs is 1979, which was released in 1996.

Was never a Chicago fan and I'd turn the radio off if Eye Of the Tiger came on haha - but I used to LOVE Smashing Pumpkins! Haven't really listened to them for years though.

Loving the theme and I learned something too... I never knew that the Smashing Pumpkins were from Chicago. Great shout on a song too, what a song and what an album..
Chicago saturday in the park new on me and really enjoyed it and then of course eye of the tiger, an absolute classic!

Great selection, I love the Smashing Pumpkins tune! It is around the time I finished school, but I didnt like them at the time! wo is me. The Chicago tune Hard To Say Im Sorry is such a classic too!

Well I know all three songs Super Eli, but never knew the bands were from Chicago. I never really thought about Chicago being from Chicago, I guess I am used to geographical band names not being from there they are named Texas Berlin etc..

These three bands are great, excellent selection. All in their own style were great. Of the three songs shared I really like the one by The Smashing Pumpkins; although of the three bands I love Chicago, and there is one song by The Suvivor that moves me to the floor, and that is "The Search is Over". I liked this #ttt you shared today @coquicoin. Cheers.

I was sad when I read "empty nest", I know that it is a great change for you that your son is not at home now, but it is the path of his success and it will be good for him. They say it's very nice in Chicago. Excellent music choice. I'm a Rocky's fan 😀, so Eye of the tiger is my favorite, but I'm also a fan of alternative rock music. 😊
That's right, I miss him a lot but I am very happy for him. He is very happy with the university, so I can't help but feel grateful for the opportunity he has, although I am counting the days until December when he will come on holiday, hehe ;)🤗

Eye of the tiger - I remember that coming out in the charts - great song. I love the video, its so badly done. The bit where they are walking down the street is hilarious ! One of them does not know quite when to come in and gets it quite wrong - love it !
