Nice post! I couldn’t understand why my grandparents like to listen to Enka when we watched Kōhaku Uta Gassen on the 31st of December. However, I felt like “Wait a minute, I actually like Enka a lot.” I started enjoy watching Enka with my grandparents even though I didn’t understand exact meanings of lyrics at that time. Enka is very deep!
When I watch Kohaku every year I don't really like any of the J-pop, but I always love listening to the Enka songs. My mother-in-law loves Enka too, so we watch them together.
