As I won't be able to post this weekend or tomorrow, I thought I do a quick post today about that Whitney Houston's song I was working on.
There was 3 covers that I was working on at the moment:
I have Nothing by Whitney Houston, Headlines by Drake and Human Nature by Mickael Jackson.
Any cover that I work on always serves a purpose.
This one, it was to work on modulation (it's when a key changes).
It's such an interesting track, I Have Nothing, written by David Foster and Linda Thompson (married together), and one of the soundtracks of the movie Bodyguard.
Funny fact, it's one of the most sung song by American Idols contesters, and I can understand why, it's all about the vocal prowesses, and the emotion, it culminates with one last chorus, just so well written.
The thing is I didn't think I was ready to sing it, I need to know the lyrics by heart and I really wanted the guitar to be solid, but there was a nice weather and I won't have time to record any other day so I was like "fuck it", and I gave it a try.
My cat came to bomb the song hahaha but it's alright, maybe she just wanted to contribute a little.
Actually she was just hungry...
I could have tried another version, but I was like "naaah it will be fine", anyway it's not like it's going viral, it's just so I can keep staying sharp, playing a song every week, yadi yada!
I am not exactly happy with the result, because, and I can't believe I am saying that, but I got scared!
Yea! By this I mean that I know the song well, by heart, I've worked on it for a while now, but once I press the record button on Cubase and on the camera, I felt a little pressure to deliver.
I know, it's silly, you would think that after some times I should get used to playing in front of the camera, but I think it's because it's a difficult song, and I didn't want to mess up the lyrics...Which I did 😌

And regarding my "experiment" since the 17th of November, I've deleted all social media apps on my phone just to take a month break from the rat race, and I just have a lot of time, I am surrounding myself with my wife, kids and our animals, and I'll figure something to write about next week!

Interesting, everything I find Calling itself lofi on youtube tends to be more groove oriented, instrumental chill hop type stuff. I assumed "lofi" meant low fidelity or something having to do with the lack of or low quality of the very high frequencies in the recording/production. usually there is some kind of ambient noise in the upper register filling space... I guess all my music is lofi too in that case =)

I also didn't know about David Foster, while searching for some info I discovered that he wrote or co-wrote many hits from Earth Wind and Fire, he also wrote for Kenny Loggins, he produced the song "Unbreak My Heart" by Tony Braxton, so I start seeing a pattern here of his style

Yeah I know what you mean, I've been using it in the past, but what I mean by this, is that there was no particular reason for to wait until midnight, it just one of those.

I know exactly what you mean. Anytime a perfectly even number is involved - time, or money or whatever. An example for me would be something like This month I'm going to put $243.73 into savings just so that the number is exactly $1100.00. Or something like that. Even when you know the number will change in a day or two or whatever, it's that brief moment of satisfaction of a clean even number.
